There is a very nice albergue in Piñera. Not to be overlooked. Very useful information provided for the various options to Ribadeo and on to Mondonedo. Also the pilgrims meal is certainly worth it. Maybe too short a stage from Luarca.
Potential issues in Hendaye - Irun due to G7 in Biarritz and Alt-G7 in Handaye https://www.france24.com/en/20190820-biarritz-g7-lockdown-residents-business-owners-uneasy-counter-summit Some transport links suspended etc.
I will arrive early evening in Biarritz on Tue 27th Aug. Given that the private hostel in Irun has closed now, what is the likelhood of getting a bed in the pilgrims hostel at 8pm in the evening. I do not really see any hostels between Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint Jean de Luz or Hendaye, Irun...
Thanks. I am meeting a friend in Mondonedo so I will factor in a few rest days even if I dont need them to synch our arrival times there. I think Gijon and one or two of those places will do just fine.
Looking at the various stagings for the Norte they seem to vary between 31 and 36 stages. I would like to add a couple of rest days ( maybe three ). Excluding Bilbao, are there any recommended places for taking a rest day along the route ?
Ahh, the Feve from Asturias is a good idea too. My friends plans come from the other direction though, Madrid to Lugo by train and then on. Starting the Primitivo last year we used that airport.
I will do the Norte from Irun in the Autumn. A friend wishes to join me for the last part and given their time Lourenzá would appear to be the best meet up spot. Public transport to the smaller towns and villages seems a little scant. Could someone suggest the best way to get there form...
