Hi Meggie, are you trying to book albergues or private accommodation? I'm going for a week at the end of September and have booked all of my accomodations, some on booking.com and some direct. Albergues don't always take reservations, I did the Norte back in 2022 and many people had problems...
I walked Gernika to Bilbao, I remember it was really lovely until Larrabetzu and after that it was on unshaded road for 8km or so, it was a little tough because it was a super hot day , but with a hat and water, not too difficult.
If you're foodies San Sebastian and Bilbao for the Guggenheim, agree with Tincatinker, Llanes great for a chill out and Oviedo great too, I went off onto the Primitivo so I can't say for the rest of the Norte.
I did the Norte alone last September, I got to Bilbao in 5 days from Irun, yes it's pretty tough that first week with lots of climbs and descents, challenging, especially if its's hot, but incredible, both for the views and the feeling of accomplishment when you reach the top and bottom :)...
Hi, I combined the Norte from Irun to Villaviciosa then Primitivo to Santiago and also walked to Muxia last September, it was 36 walking days, I took 2 rest days along the way, like you, I'm in average shape, it is definitely doable in the time and I agree with everybody else, the beginning from...
Hi, Last September I walked from the Albergue Usandi in Bolibar which is about 5k after Markina, to Gernika in 4 hours. I spent a wonderful couple of hours in the peace museum that day. Hope this helps. Buen Camino!
I'm also starting on the 1st, train from Bordeaux to Hendaye and then walking across...Reading covid rules today, from UK, fully vaccinated I just need proof of that to enter Spain.
Hi, I'm walking the Norte alone in September, I agree with Laurie, having walked the Frances alone in 2019, it is a wonderful, freeing experience. I really feel you can walk the Camino without fear as realistically anything can happen to anyone, anywhere. But also agree that if you have any...
I've got the Norte and Primitivo planned for September/October, from my planning there are a lot of places open and it (fingers tightly crossed) can only get better right! :)
