27 days, 602km, one trip to hospital and the best time of my life! People said before I walked the Camino Del Norte that this experience would change my life. Well they were not wrong. I arrived back yesterday and I don't know where I fit in this life I had before. Feeling very blue and dying to...
Your words are so kind all of you. I've just done my final pack. And feeling much better. Just making sure everything is sorted in the real world then tonight I can focus for the walk. Excitement is weighing more than the anxiety now. Who knows what I will encounter but I do know whatever I...
Good evening all :)
2 sleeps to go till I start my first Camino, taking the northern route. Getting a mixture of nervous & excitement! I'm thinking this is completely normal? Eeeekkk!!!
Thank you for your post Pete, this brought tears to my eyes. It's so wonderful to be chatting to such like minded people.
Buen Camino and God Bless you :)
Good evening all you lovely pilgrims,
In a week I'll be setting off to walk the Camino del Norte. I've decided not to take any device that has internet. I have a old phone just in case of emergencies, that literally text and calls. I'm not sure whether to take a UK sim, or to buy one there. I...
Oh my God this is so exciting. You sound awesome, I do so hope to meet you along the way.
I have known about the walk since I read The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho and I have always felt drawn to the way but never thought I would do it. Then things have fallen into place this year, kind of by...
I'm on my own too :) I think it's best to be done that way. Can I ask your reason for doing the walk? Please tell me to mind my own if it's too personal :) !!
That's great. We may bump into each other. What kind of training are you doing? I'm struggling to get out for walks so doing a lot of gym training particular focus on legs and back. And putting a little meat on my bones as I'm a vegan and I don't know how much I will be able to eat out there :)
Oh my goodness, the time is getting so close now. As the title tells you I have 36 days, 5 hours and 29 minutes before I fly to Bilbao to start my first ever Camino :) I can't wait! I have never felt something so strong call my soul.
Is anyone else starting the Camino Del Norte soon?
Wonderful feedback, exactly what I need. Thank you for taking the time to give me all the details. What one thing was most precious to you on the trip? Something you recommend I should take that isn't the obvious?
Absolutely - thank you for the advice. I couldn't sleep wild camping I'd be too scared that someone will arrest me in the middle of the night! I think sound sleep is important, so where it's not possible to camp I will be sure to stay in the albergues. I need to shower at least once a week. My...
Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to hear :) What's the one piece of advice you'd give me and what one item was most precious to you during the walk?
I read a post recently my another that camped the route that said the local farmers are pretty negotiable as are the hostels along the route that have land. Most have back gardens. Where there is no camping near by I will stay in one of the hostels. But I prefer to experience this as natural as...
Hi All,
I'm so excited I booked my flights yesterday to walk the Camino del Norte starting from Bilbao in September this year. It's been a dream for many years. I have done my research on the different routes and as this is the least walked I have chosen this one. I'll be doing the walk alone...
