Here are my “unproven” thoughts about the Camino Norte … just for fun (somewhat):
1. There is not one square meter of flat land in northern Spain. Nowhere, nada, don’t even try to look.
2. When the weather forecast suggests a 20% chance of rain, they really mean there is a 90% certainty it will...
Yes, you take the detour to the left, climb through the brush to the low route, turn right (double back) until you get to the fork. Chose not to do that today as the weather was not great so not many views for the extra effort.
Overnight flight from Toronto to Madrid last night … took the 16:00 Iberia flight to San Sebastián. Well … after two aborted landings due to weather, we landed in Bilbao … now on a bus to San Sebastián (Irun) … yes the Camino always provides … but it can also throw some things your way to deal...
Not sure if anyone else replied but also check the timing of the Tour de France as I read that the route is near / through that area sometime around June/July. Can’t find the details right now. Hope that helps.
My apologies if this has been answered but I cannot seem to find an answer on the forum. Where may I get my credencial in Irun if arriving later in the day. My flight lands at 17:15 on May 9. Thank you.
Good morning. I've been looking at routing options and accommodation using Gronze between these three stops along Norte. I can't seem to match a route and accommodation for the dates I plan to be there (June 14-17 roughly) either via Monxes or via As Cruzes. I am now considering skipping Sobrado...
I begin Norte from Irun on May 10 and have been booking accommodation thru booking dot com. I’ve noticed that in most places, a lot of the accommodation is full … not sure what that means in terms of actual numbers, but I was somewhat surprised just how many places are fully booked.
HELP! LOL! I have now gone back to my computer 5 times trying to add your amazing recommendations for alternatives to the initial route I planned via Gronze. I am having a very difficult time finding the paths you highlight above with distance and routes and whether this adjusts my destination...
Thank you so much for this. Having walked Frances and Portuguese (from Lisboa), I am looking to avoid as much asphalt as possible even if making the walk a bit longer. This is an excellent resource and very well explained. Thank you. Buen Camino.
Good evening fellow peregrinos. My apologies if I am repeating a post that has already been answered but I have searched the site without any answer. I was to walk Norte in autumn 2020, but COVID did a number on that, I am now looking to walk in Aug/Sep 2022 and would love my bride of 38 years...
