    Camino del Norte

We were planning to start walking from Bilbao in June. Not looking possible now. I posted about getting a credential there as we were flying in the evening and starting the walk the next day. General advice was best to get before you arrive. Saves worrying. I got some from this site...

    Is swimwear necessary?

I'm hoping to walk the norte starting early June, virus permitting. Just wondering if the sea will be warm enough to swim, not sure if I will bring some swimmers or not Soft aussie here.

    Camino del Norte accommodation

Buen Camino Heikki! I hope you have a fantastic last day walk. I am one of the sad camino addicts who find the last day hard as the walk is over. Virus permitting will be finishing the norte in July.

    April Camino

I start early June. Based on previous caminos I'd say an umbrella unlikely to be worth the weight. But I have been lucky not many days of rain and no wind. You can always toss it on the way

    Podcast

I love Dave whitsons podcasts. I was very disappointed when he took a pause publishing them. I would listen on my training walks. I must check out if there is an ebook version of his guidebook. We are walking the Norte starting June. All the variants look confusing.

Interested in walking the Camino del Norte in July

We are starting from Bilbao in early June. We will book the first night and maybe the second, and then we will take it from there, booking ahead only if we need to. We prefer the alburges to hotels, one advantage is that the public alburges don't take reservations, first come basis. I'll...

Getting Pilgrim Credential starting in Bilbao

I'll be starting the Norte June 9 2020 in Bilbao. I fly into Bilbao evening of the 8th so probably book a room somewhere central? I read that the municipal alburge is the only place to get a credential but it is quite far from the city centre. Does anyone know if this is accurate? I presume...

“Bed race” You should read this before attempting Camino Del Norte in July/August.

I found on the CF the pilgrim office stats on numbers finishing by month can be misleading if you are walking a longer camino rather than just from sarria. On the majority of the way from Sjpdp midsummer is significantly less busy than May or September. Based on previous helpful reports I...

Thanks folks😁. My friend's window is restricted to early June to the end of August. Thanks to the advice on here we will start early to mid June. I am a bit limited in the number of days I can walk so maybe start from Bilbao, that may put us slightly ahead of increasing numbers. We both...

I'm not quite sure how to take this post. (1) you say that you had no problems finding beds but you only walked 2/3 days on the Norte?? (2). You say that you quit at the start because of endless walking? That's what most of us on here love about the Camino. (almost) endless path.

Are there any stat's giving you an indication of how many people are starting on the Norte by month? Like sjpdp provide? Might help decide when we should walk.

Hmm. This is a bit of a concern. After 2 CF and a half Vdlp, I am planning to walk the norte sometime June / July / August 2020. I hate the bed race, and I prefer not to book ahead as I love the freedom to be open to what the day throws up. Last year I found just starting the CF a week or...
