Good morning from California. I am hoping to do the le puye camino next year but I did the camino Norte in 2017. I started May 6th and before I was finished , about 40 days total, I had some very hot days. Walking near the coast the weather was almost always pleasant but as we left the coast to...
HI ivar greetings from California. I'm really enjoying your "shorts so well produced and its a beautiful reminderder of the amazing world live in and the many wonders to behold. Working on a family camino for next may 2023 le puye to st jean. Many thanks buen camino
That was the one thing that struck me while doing my Norte camino. So many miles of the most beautiful and expansive beaches I've ever seen. Usually not a soul on the beach except myself and other pilgrims! I really fell in love with that part of Spain and long to go back.
One of the singers I...
Hi Mera
I must admit that I think you have the making of a very interesting and hilarious book about your csmino. Each story makes me smile.
Regarding your story about Mondays restaurants being closed, I brought a large jug of peanut butter for those days when food is limited. It saved me on my...
You are right. I could not believe how many abandoned structures I saw along the Norte camino. That was back in 2017 so it sounds like it has not changed alot. Maybe fall out from the "crisis" of 2008.
Additionally my walking pilgram companions seemed to use their tent frequently. Like you said...
Bilbao was an interesting city. I do recall not enjoying all the steps going down into the city. My knees and tired legs were pretty shot at that point. I hobbled to my albergue. The next day I went to the gugenhiem, the building itself was a wonder of architecture but the art inside for the...
Hey opepper21
Buen camino. It's true the rate can fluctuate from place to place but I believe if you average it out of the course of your camino it will be pretty affordable. Be frugal but enjoy the camino most of all. I saved money eating from super mercados frequently on my camino. Hoping it...
I did the same hike in May2017 so I'm guessing now your gonna be facing some heat. Dress accordingly. I will suggest you give yourself some extra time at your day 3 location. It's a wonderful little town with lots of history and fun shops and places to see and the food is amazing like so much of...
Hi Olivia
I'm sorry I don't know the status of places to stay up in irun. It's a lovely little town tucked away but I think you should be able to find a bed.
You picked a great walk for your " never done this before" moment. If you like beautiful scenery, friendly people, lots of farm animals...
I did the Norte alone in 2017. Well at least the 1st 10 days without a partner. Then when I least expected I joined with some other kindreds and we walked together all the way to santiago. Enjoy your solitude while you have it. Buen camino
work responsibilites .traveling for a camino now is not ideal. for me april next year fits much better.
I was in montana last year in the bozeman area for some r&r from california craziness. really alot to like about montana ;-)
who are you doing your camino with?
Omg I sympathize with you. I have the same issue and I remember the day that it was apparent I had to cross that bridge on foot. Yikes. I seriously considered going around but I was to exhausted to try. I kept my head down and did not look out and started to jogg across. Which with a back pack...
congrats on deciding to do the Norte. the most beautiful route in my opinion. I got my stamp at my Albergue in irun. I don't recall the name. yes, 9 am is a late start in my opinion. the walk to san Sebastian is quite a challenge and an early start will be helpful in many ways.
the view of san...
Hello
I have done the norte in 2017. It is spectacular but I would say pretty challenging. For what your thinking plus with the concern about alberges or lack there of I would suggest the frances route. They will have the most places to stay. Plus I'm told it's not as challenging as the norte...
