Hello @Laura the Explora!
When I walked the Norte, I had already walked the Primitivo 2 years earlier. So, I decided to continue on the Norte and I wasn’t disappointed at all!
The second half of the Norte has some very nice parts and was quieter than the Primitivo.
I’m a few weeks, I will find...
Yes, I walked this section in October a few years ago and I would highly recommend it.
Many pilgrims on the Norte that year turned off to walk the Primitivo so the way did become quieter after the split! However, there were enough pilgrims walking to have a sense of community.
The weather in...
I walked the Norte 2 years ago starting in Irun September 23.
The weather was absolutely amazing - to my surprise! I carried a lot of wet weather gear and only got my poncho out once!
You can minimise the road walking by looking out for options along the way. Check Peregrina2000's thread...
Thanks grayland!
It was great to meet you on the Primitivo - and to see you guiding those grandsons of yours!!
Hopefully we'll meet again along the way :)
I have done both ways. You can't make a wrong decision! Both ere wonderful.
Maybe wait until you get to the split and decide?
Saying goodbyes!
Buen camino
Hi Colette,
Yes, it was the municipal. 'Hospital de perigrinos de Irun'. Calle Lucas de Berra 18.
The credentials weren't specific to the Norte and I didn't see any that were along the way.
I see you're from Slovakia.
When I walked the Norte October 2016, I walked for a few weeks with a...
Seth, this combination is very appealing to me. I have walked the Norte, San Salvador and Primitivo before and would like to follow in your footsteps.
Would you be able to post your spreadsheet in the resources or PM me?
On the Norte last year I met a Spanish couple just outside of San...
I also used the Wise Pilgrim app. If you open the map when you have wifi - and don't close it - you can access it while walking.
I liked it because it showed me where I was (blue dot) and where the Camino was!
Buen camino.
I also walked the Norte from Irun in October 2016 and stayed on the Norte when others went to the Primitivo.
Because of the time of year, my pack was full of every type of rain gear imaginable. There were fewer than 5 times in the entire 5 weeks that I had to use any of it! I'm not complaining...
I walked the entire Norte last October and stayed in Albergues most nights.
As I was well prepared for cold, wet weather....it was the opposite! Most days I walked in shorts and when I arrived in Santiago it was 28oC!!
I used the Cicerone guide and the Wise Pilgrim App on my phone.
Most...
In October last year I walked the Norte with the Cicerone guide - and I downloaded the Wise Pilgrim App.
The maps on Wise Pilgrim were handy because if you opened them up when you had wifi (and remembered not to close the App) you could use the map all day while walking and it showed you where...
