I'm leaving tomorrow for the Sanabres!

Buen Camino my friend. We are in Santarém now, day 3 on Lisbon to Porto. Very busy here! I'm not energetic enough to post yet. Enjoy the Sanabrés. You will love it!

    Requejo to Lubian (Camino Sanabres)

Wikiloc is an app that you can use to find trails and tracks. Just search on the app to find what you want. Lots of people use it and there are lots of tracks!

    Requejo to Lubian (Camino Sanabres)

@JillGat, the route you took is the old route. After researching on many recent wikiloc tracks, you are right, no one goes this way anymore. The way through Aciberos used to stay on the highway, for a much longer way to Lubian. However, that is now changed and goes on trails just like the one...

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Oh, I am sorry. I guess you went the highway then?

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Indeed, I appreciate your help, because this section, according to all the accounts, keeps morphing as the AVE construction morphed. I hope this trail system after the ruined building is official, because IMHO is beats the N-525 and is shorter than its parallel path that still keeps the roadways...

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Thank you. This does not appear to be exactly like what I am seeing on the Gronze map. If you would be willing to share your GPS and/or map in greater detail, that would be great!

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Thank-you for all this! I'm clueless where the "ruined building" is, but by your descriptions, I'm assuming it is at the end of the AVE works area/bridges/tunnels. And there are two choices after this building, one historic and one alternative? Are there trails for both, one on either side of...

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Yes, this section is different than what I am asking about. This is not the route that takes a trail after the AVE construction site. But Thank you!

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Did you walk this river route?

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

Hello, I am researching the Sanabrés and have discovered that since the AVE construction is complete, this section from Requejo to Padornelo has a new route available along the Requejo River. Our last time here we were forced to walk on the N-525 national highway this entire section and even...

History/Interesting things to see on the Sanabres?

Take time out to see the town, Puebla de Sanabria. Lovely, medieval town, with fortress and other attractions!

    Salamanca Rest Day: Your tips

I loved Salamanca! Of course, see the cathedral complex, and do the rooftop tour! Also, there is the Casa de las Conchas, with scallop shells all over it. Go see the famous University, find the frog in the University Square, and see the Cielo de Salamanca. If you'd like to see photos and for...

    Walk from Ourense to Cea

Here is more info, from my website, with photos, from my day on the route via Tamallancos, the "right" route (vs the route via Canedo, the "left" route). It is a steep but lovely climb IMHO (my GPS said 350 meters (1150 feet) over eight kilometers), up to the hermitage, the Ermida de San Marcos...

Gronze Stage 38B - Cea to O Castro (Dozon)

Yes, take the route to Oseira, with the option of going on. We enjoyed the monastery very much. We did walk on all the way to Estación de Lalín but it was very long. The Roman roads you will walk on in both sections, while rough, are esthetically very pleasing! You can have a look at our walk...

Plasencia detour and the Natural VdlP

Thank-you, the "Camino Natural Via de la Plata" along the old railroad bed makes for extremely comfortable and flat walking! It is a wonderful thing that they are extending it all the way to Plasencia and beyond. I did the section from Alba de Tormes to Salamanca when I connected the Camino...

LIVE from the Camino Sanabrés from Verín - May/June 2022

Congratulations and I'm glad you enjoyed the entry. I agree, I thought it was the best! Good luck on the Salvador and I look forward to your adventure!

LIVE from the Camino Sanabrés from Verín - May/June 2022

Nick, there is not a lot to see through these final 40 km, except sweeping countryside (see our day sixteen and seventeen). While our staging was a bit different because we made it all the way to A Susana on our penultimate day, I would suggest stopping in Ponte Ulla after about 20 km from...
