I'm thrilled when I can arrive at my destination by 3 or 3:30 when kitchens are still open and you can order a "menu" in the afternoon. However, on caminos like the Via de la Plata and other caminos menos transitados, the stage lengths don't always offer that option (Just did another 40km stage...
When I walked the VdlP/Sanabrés/Muxia, I used Movistar. I also used Movistar last year on the Mozárabe, San Salvador, and Primitivo. Last year, the cost was roughly 20 euros for 50gb of data and unlimited calls for a month and the coverage was solid throughout all the routes mentioned...
I walked the VdlP from Sevilla to Granja de Moreruela, then connected to the Camino Sanabrés to Santiago. The distance is roughly 1000 km. It took 35 days. If memory serves, there were three stages over 40km, but nothing over 45. I think your 21 days will give you plenty of time to enjoy...
I walked from Sevilla starting on Feb 11 back in 2019 (pre-covid). Even then, there were some albergues that were closed, but I was always able to find somewhere to stay without much trouble. I think that it's a beautiful time to walk.
Buen camino. I did exactly this route - Sevilla to Muxia - starting on Feb 11, 2019. Truly wonderful, although with some closed albergues and long stages even pre-covid. Beautiful scenery and a very distinct experience from the Frances. As I'm currently walking the Via Francigena, I find this...
I started on Feb 11, 2019. Weather was wonderful. 1-5 C to start the day and 15 by mid morning. Only two rain days and no snow. Obviously, much more solitary than the Francés, but I found it to be more rewarding.
Started this past February 11. I was told that the year before (2018) some stages were closed due to snow. This year, the weather could not have been better. Although I saw few pilgrims, I found the experience to be beyond my expectations. Very different from the Francés, with a number of...
Thanks ranthr and Sara_Dhooma. I appreciate your recommendations and think I'll probably follow your suggestion. I'll also look at my schedule getting into Mérida.
I have been to Sevilla before, but a number of years ago and with a group of students in tow. Thanks for your feedback. The extra time in Sevilla might be a good idea on its own.
I'm planning to start out from Sevilla on Monday, February 11, 2019. Since the walk to Guillena is fairly short, there would be time to stop and see the ruins of Italica, but they are closed on Mondays. For those who've done this, is it worth waiting one extra day in Sevilla in order to pass...
