LIVE from the Camino Sanabrés from Verín - May/June 2022

Sorry guys, I’ve been out of the loop. One day I ‘will’ stop and stay at Oseira. I have walkerd the Sanabres 3 times I believe and never stayed there. The reports of cold lodgings has always put me off ;). Enjoy your final few days.

LIVE from the Camino Annie’s partial Vdlp apr/may 2019

Great to see you’re going well Annie. I know you’ve passed Zafra but this note may help those reading your notes for upcoming VdlP…... I like to recommend the ‘other’ albergue in Zafra (ie Albergue Convento San Francisco, Av. Fuente del Maestre, 2) as it is closer to the centre and super...

Accommodation costs Seville surprise to me

@OzAnnie (and anyone else) looking for AirBnB accommodation in central Sevilla (10-15 minutes walk to the Cathedral), PM me. I'll put you in touch with a Spanish friend who rents out parts of his home. There are several bedding options (from a quirky attic to a double room) in his lovely house...

    Ourense via Verin variant

Hi Sharon, Take a look at the CPI (Portuguese Interior) which enters Spain at Verin and continues to Santiago on the Sanabres. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/camino-portugues-interior-route.163/ If you’d like my notes on this route they are in the Resource section here on the...

Hi Kas, I hope the weather is settling down as you move further North. What are your highlights from the first week? Buen camino Grace

    1st timer

Hi Kas, I have started a PM (private conversation) with you. As a fellow Kiwi and VdlP-afficionado, I can help you with any questions you have. I’ve sent you my phone number. You don’t need to pre-book albergues at that time of year but you could pre-book a pension in the cacso antiguo (old...

New albergue in Xinzo de Limia

Super news. When I walked the CPI I had to stay in a pension in Xinzo. This is a wondereful walk. I hope the ‘local pilgrim assn’ have been putting some effort into re-marking the route. The arrows were few and far between in 2015

    Umbrella addict - advice needed!

Jo, I experienced a storm in my first couple of days. Driving rain and wind. Sun umbrella was no use. It was poncho time

    Umbrella addict - advice needed!

Oh wow! I'm currently on the Levante in baking temps every day no letup in sight. I couldn't be out after 10am without it. Sorry BP but I'm not much help except to say you'll need one at the moment. And this also won't help you :) but the best way to make mine hands free is to gently place the...

    Guide Books VDLP

There is a wonderful Resource here on the forum (the VdlP accommodation guide). This camino is so well marked you really don’t need anything else. Enjoy the planning @Waka and Buen Camino

    Sanbres Accommodation..

Hi @scubajunky - I’ve Walked the VdlP/Sanabres 3 times and never had a problem with albergues anywhere. Most towns have a muni (municipal) and possibly another private alb as well. There is an up-to-date list of accommodation/kms here on the forum in the Camino Resources section (LTfit latest...

bivy on via de la plata

Hi @Gvc, welcome to the forum. It’s a great way to ask/answer some of the queries you come up with while planning your camino. I’m not sure that you’ll be able tocamp all along the VdlP. I believe free camping is not legal in Spain. Search the forum and you’ll find many threads with a wealth of...

    Here we go again!

Seville is gorgeous (ex-resident) Make sure you allow a few days there to soak up the atmosphere and practice your Spanish. I recommend to stay in the centre (the casco antiguo, inside the old walls). Plenty of great pensions and AirBnb available also now. Do not stay across the river in...

Apps, maps and guides for the VDLP

Firstly - lucky you @longtrails (VdlP is my favourite camino …...so far) ;) Really, unless you are interested in the historic aspects of the places you’ll visit, a guide is not necessary. The way is well marked and getting lost is pretty difficult. ;)o_O I had bought the Kelly guide (online) a...

Weather in November on VDLP -- What Insulation?

Welcome @Flanerie. Sorry I can’t help much with your clothing choices. I lived in Sevilla for some years and one year was actually swimming in November! That said, I can also be cool. Where you will have more of an issue with cold will be heading further North past Merida. The winter will...
