    Bike rental shop in Pamplona?

We did the same as you’re planning... walked SJPDP to Pamplona then picked up a bike for the rest of the way to SdC. We used BikeIberia. You just need to give them details of your accommodation at the start and end. We contacted the Pamplona accommodation to check it was OK with them to take...

    The Meseta

When cycling there’s a road route you can take to Fromista to circumnavigate the hill - which is what we chose to do. It does mean you miss the great views from the descent though.

    Cycling camino

    Tolerance. It’s a wonderful thing.

    Cycling camino

The 'walking' path is eminently sharable by walkers and cyclists so longs as both groups are courteous to each other. It's only selfishness of individuals of both groups that cause problems. If you want to cycle the path... cycle the path, just as it is your right to do so.

What Is The Most Useful & Usless Item You Packed

I accidentally left mine hanging up outside at the municipal albergue in Fromista. If anyone sees it, feel free to claim it as yours with a clear conscience! :D A very useful item.

    Newbie Bike Questions

I would 100% second this advice! You don't need to look like Alberto Contador but you really should wear padded cycling shorts even if you're only thinking of cycling for a couple of days. Think of your backside as the equivalent of your feet and give it the same level of consideration. It...

Cycling and wearing a small to medium backpack

If the rental bike comes with panniers and you're happy using them, why not just transfer your kit to the panniers and wear your empty/near-empty rucksack on your back? Many of the discomfort problems raised above then go away. If you don't like panniers (I know I don't), you can still fit a...

    Biking part...which part?

Cycling Pamplona to Santiago in 12 days is pretty do-able. Maybe time for a day's rest within that depending on progress. We walked and cycled so had the same 'back pack' issue. Our solution was to take an empty dry bag with us which we stuffed full and bungeed to the back rack when cycling...

Cycling From Pamplona To Santiago In 7 Days

If you're young, fit and used to a few hills then 7 days is achievable and you will be no less a pilgrim than anyone else. We did it in 11 days but were not so young. Up to O'Cebreiro is the toughest part but then we missed (somehow) the pointer to the cycling route. Make hay whilst the sun...

Manners of Cyclists and Walkers (moved from another thread)

Thank you Wayfarer! ...and yes, you are correct, I am not the owner of the company in my avatar... more's the pity!! :) Cheers!

Manners of Cyclists and Walkers (moved from another thread)

No but they can be less alive!! There are some roads which track the way that are really just not safe for cycling on. If anyone on here has ever had the willies put up them by a cyclist whizzing past, then I certainly out-did that when an enormous logger truck overtook us within 18-inches on...

Manners of Cyclists and Walkers (moved from another thread)

This absolutely does happen. I think that walkers, after a while on the Camino just get a little lulled into a false sense of security and 'forget'/don't realise they are on public highways. If I were to cycle it again, my only other request to walkers (along with looking when crossing/entering...

Manners of Cyclists and Walkers (moved from another thread)

Just read the rules. I see I've got away with violating rule 10!! Not a commercial avatar, however, so much as a reflection of happy memories spent looking out for the Osborne bulls during many family tours of Spain in our split-screen VW camper. All before they had to remove the brand name of...

Manners of Cyclists and Walkers (moved from another thread)

I cycled the Camino in 2014. On two occasions walkers nearly caused me injury by just walking straight out onto the ROAD I was on, without bothering to look. Much of the Frances is on public roads and many walkers seemed oblivious to the fact that there might be traffic on it. Then there was...

PLEASE get a BELL for your bike

I almost got decapitated twice by walkers using their poles as pointing sticks!! Bells are all good and well but I generally found that they made people jump out of their skin in a completely unpredictable manner. Some jumping to the left, some to the right and one particular couple both into...

Biking the Camino from Pamplona in Oct. 2016- Advice/Itinerary

We did Pamplona to Santiago in 12 stages as follows (showing end points for the day): 1: Cirauqui 2: Torres del Rio 3: Azofra 4: Ages 5: Castrojeriz 6: Real de Bercianos Camino 7: Astorga 8: Ponferrada 9: O'Cebreiro 10: Portomarin 11: Arzua 12: SdC The first day was relatively short as it's a...

    Pamplona to Compostela Terrain

Great stuff! Hoping to do the Camino again next year and I'm pretty certain we'll use TrekRight again. Always amazes me how people can dedicate so much time to developing such a resource and keeping it up to date.

    Pamplona to santiago de compostela

In 2014 we walked from SJPDP to Pamplona then cycled the rest of the way. I'd second the advice you had from others and go for it independently. We used BikeIberia for bike rental. They delivered the bike to the Albergue in Pamplona then picked it up in SdC. Providing you pack light then you...

Shuttles or buses that take cyclists and their bikes

I'm quite sure you'll cover all the ground in 18 days but in the event that you do need transport, Alsa buses will take a bike for 10 Euro. They do need to be covered but don't need to be in a bike box or bike bag. Black bin bags taped together are fine. I've seen cyclists do this on Alsa many...

    Biking and Albergues

Damn me and my parsing!! The "Red" group of albergues are bike friendly. http://www.redalberguessantiago.com/
