Time for more compostela type certificates?

I didn't let the crowds on the last 100km bother me, in fact I said to this man from the UK I was walking with that I wish could have experienced a walk like this with my friends when I was in high school. What a good way to bond with fellow classmates. Then I said, I wonder if they think it...

My neighbour came over today with a copy of this article for me as he knows I walk the Camino.

Some thoughts on the uniqueness of pilgrimage.

I finished my first Camino, the Frances June 26/23 and never really encountered this. The only thing I got asked about usually was were I was walking to that day, but not were I started from that day. Never got asked were I was to the next day.

    How long is the Meseta?

Yes, went in June last year. Vast fields of green with red poppies growing and when a breeze comes up it all sways back in forth, quite mesmerizing and beautiful. Will be walking through the Meseta in June again this year, so looking forward to it.

How the Camino can change your life: Personal experiences and expectations

I had expectations a few months before I left as I had planned this for 2 years. I am a chef so I had in my mind that I was only going to eat only "good Spanish food", no pilgrims meals. Have the preconceived notion that I would not like dormitory rooms before I even slept in one. Walking in...

Are you planning your (next) camino? Well, I am

I walked my first Frances May-June 2023. I was on my 5th day between Puente la Reina and Estella and I thought this is nice but I won't be back. But here I am, a new year and I already have a plane ticket back to Spain. I have 7 weeks booked so I have to decide Portuguese with some other smaller...

For those who have walked the Camino 2 or more times

Yes, the main reason I want to walk the Camino Francés again is that I walked it in 32 days so that's an average of 25 km a day and I don't think I got to experience everything it had to offer in one walk. Places like Logrono and Leon and others have so much more to see than I could have...

How do people 60-and-over plan their Camino?

Had to laugh at a travel to Spain commercial for getting people back to the camino. It shows a guy with all his hiking gear and backpack on and he's walking on a treadmill in his bedroom. Never thought about training like that, but whatever works. Also maybe put all your gear on and stand in the...
