We did exactly that in 2017. And we had a woman along with a pretty fancy telescope with the proper viewing lens as well as well as the special glasses sold everywhere for viewing.
It would be "cool" - temperature as well as out of this world :) - to see the eclipse while on Camino. And it will offer a few minutes respite from the August heat as well. My ladies backpacking group saw the August 2017 one in eastern Oregon and already have plans to meet for the April 2024...
Just be sure to carefully read all fine print. Some of the preloadable cards charge a fee for every interaction including adding money, checking balance, purchase and others. Those fees add up quickly.
I agree that insoles that are sold in trail runners are lousy. I pull them out and put in SuperFeet insoles (berry or the newer trail type women specific). I have used SuperFeet for 20+ years in all my hiking shoes - first in the heavy backpacking boots I started with and now in trail runners...
