I don't have advice about choosing your route, but I do want to share some thoughts about crowds, and reassure you that 95% of your day will be spent with only the wind in your ears. I plan to book flights between major cities... Madrid, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Burgos, Leon, Porto, etc. The flights all seem quite short, and hopefully, timed so not too many days would be lost to travel.- LizziM
