Fantastic idea. I like the wide side opening and I suppose you turn the sheet inside out if you want the opening on the other side and the pillow in the same spot?
Thanks to @Kanga, I bought a pair of waterproof socks for an early spring camino. I walk in quick dry trail runners and got last minute heebie jeebies about walking through snow. Turned out my wool socks were fine for the snow but several consecutive days of, sometimes literally, icy rain made...
Sounds like you love your macabi skirt. It’s always good to find something you love to wear especially on the camino when you have to wear it every day or every other day. :)
Before I did my first camino, thanks to this forum, I bought a long macabi skirt. When it arrived I was a bit disappointed with the weight of it. The material itself was light but there were metal grommets, ties, tags and labels that all added to the weight. Anyway I gave the skirt a test run on...
Perhaps send @trecile a private message. She’s a wiz at this sort of thing.
Here’s an earlier post of hers about modifying a down comforter that might be useful.

I stay in mostly municipal or parochial albergues and there are times when power points are in demand. Besides, if you find that your adapter is not useful you can ditch it. ;)
This pilgrim started with nothing but the clothes he was standing up in. However, he soon acquired a pack someone had discarded and a few other bits and pieces.
Macabi pockets are really good. Hard to find anything better. That’s one nice thing I can say about Macabi skirts. Now can I think of anything else? Hmm...;)
Quack quack quack :D:D:D
My advice would be to try walking in a longish, full skirt before you leave for the camino. I know many peregrinas love their macabi skirts but when I tried walking in one it definitely wasn’t for me, especially if it is windy. Not only did I find all that material sort of flapping around...
I started SJPdP 15 September. Slow walker. Got to Santiago 30 October. Did take a lightweight sleeping bag but a down comforter would have been more than adequate. And if it slips off your sleeping sheet, pin it on. ;):)
Another vote for waterproof socks if walking in early spring. I packed one pair at the last minute as worried about the possibility of trudging through snow across the pyrenees in non-waterproof trail runners. Didn’t need them while walking through snow as my wool socks worked just fine...
Sorry didn’t make it clear that I meant the albergues that had a fitted sheet as a mattress cover. Personally I preferred the albergues that had vinyl covers on the mattresses and not fitted sheets but many still had some sort of matterial cover over the mattress. I usually stay in municipals or...
I walked the CF April and May. Used my lightweight sleeping bag and sheet every night. As well as a silk scarf to wrap around the pillow.
Also don’t count on a clean sheet on the mattress every night. Some albergues do not change sheet and/or pillow slip every day or at least that was my experience.
Here’s another thread on similar topic that may also be useful.
