    I found waterproof sock (Sealskinz and Dexshell) were useful with sandals when it was very cold, in very early April on the Norte. But definitely not in June! And I'd not wear them just because it was raining. Only if it was cold.

    I was caught with a sim bought in Lisbon that I was assured would also work in Spain (in fact in all of Europe). It did not. Despite hours spent on the phone to the provider. Next trip I will use the Airalo app to find a local eSim. Fingers crossed it works.

    Yes, GPS works without using data, although most phones give a more accurate data location if also connected to a mobile network. Or at least they used to. Maybe now there are more satellites up there they don't need it. I think it is all about triangulation.
