    Poles or No Poles?

Used a light-weight high-quality walking pole for the first time last year on the Via Francigena. Just for a day as I was delivering it to a pilgrim who had left it behind. What a revelation! All future caminos for me will be with a single pole.

What do you wash your clothes with

The drawback to that CA is that if you are doing it in an albergue you are using the normally limited hot water.

What do you wash your clothes with

    Johnson's Baby Shampoo for me.

To carry or not to carry an hair dryer?

But a valid issue for some, nontheless.

    SIM card for Europe

Hi, I use an Italian Vodafone sim card that I cannot reload in Vodafone shops in Germany (for example). However, this issue is circumvented by using the Vodafone.it website that has an option to easily reload my account. I suspect each country-specific website offers the same facility.

Help! Pack too heavy! — CF Sept & Oct — Senior Woman

Men are different to women in this respect it seems, but I agree that some of these items could be painlessly discarded, such as powder/body lotion/hand sanitiser. Unless of course the OP has a genuine reason for packing these things. Another suggestion above recommends trousers that convert...

    Ultimate Dog Repellent

But others, including I, have had a different experience. Depends on many things, I guess.

Are waterproof hiking shoes a good idea?

Personally I am not sure whether my waterproof Keen boots were all that waterproof. After a few days of trudging through puddles and mud on the Meseta my feet and socks always seemed to end the day wet/damp. Either the water got in or I sweated a lot. A very cold and wet Spring back in 2013...

    Recommended Shoes

You forgot fine sand on flat granite slabs on a downhill stretch... (I achieved a perfect pancake landing!)

Finally finished my Packing List - 3.700g - Full Comfort (for me at least)

3.5 is exceptional but 5kg is good. Mine was between 5.5-6kg including some water, albeit without a sleeping bag, which in future I will not forsake. Running of the veritable 'smell of an oily rag'. I used everything, and lacked nothing except a air of running shorts that I will in future...

Can I use a liner only?

It will be Spring so you can expect some cool evenings. Altitude also plays a key role. I've done it with only a liner several times, but never again. There is nothing worse that waking up in the middle of the night cold and with little recourse other than to get dressed and get back in your...

    Yet another sleeping bag question!

Is it sufficiently warm at altitude (eg. O Cebreiro) in Spring? A freezing night there in a silk liner back in 2012 is now my yardstick...

Walking the way with a 6year old

Actually, not a bad suggestion. The kids would love it.

    Which sleeping bag?

Maybe not Scott! Enterprising thieves have been known use razors to cut-open the ends of sleeping bags and remove the contents. But maybe this is unlikely in an albergue. I put my money belt under my pillow, which I admit is scarcely foolproof either.

    Your favorite camino hat!

Endorse that. The baseball caps do not protect the face from the sun sufficiently. I will be additionally taking an broad-brimmed hat on future caminos. Nice photo, by the way!

    Sleeping bag

Wish it was me. Have fun, and don't forget the sleeping bag!!😄

    Sleeping bag

Well, you did capitalise 'ALWAYS' for emphasis, so you could understand how people with a different experience might want to offer a caution!:)

    Sleeping bag

Good advice if you stay in quintas, hotels, pensiones and private albergues - maybe not so efficacious if you are staying in municipal albergues!

    Sleeping bag

Agree with this. I'm taking one from now on, as I have had enough of aggravatingly cold nights.

    Osprey Backpacks are awesome!

When I read the OP I thought it was an ad. The link to the Osprey website tipped me. But many respondents have taken it at face value, so maybe I was being cynical (and I'm an Osprey user myself).
