I walked the Camino in 2016 wearing Saucony Peregrine 5's. I had two pairs (and some flip flops), mainly because they aren't waterproof and I wanted a back up pair, so I switched them every day. They are quite light but my hubby carried them (an extra pound) so that was nice. :) Anyway, they...
I agree, and yet it's funny, some things I brought, although I suspected I may not have needed them, and yet was happy I had them, and other things I thought I'd want, I wouldn't take again. You never know until you're done and everyone is different so even someone else's opinion may not be...
I truly don't think it's always a vanity thing. I need my hair to be dry because I got chilled when it was wet and then I could not warm up. I think it was because I had been exercising all day.
What brand did you buy and how much does it weigh?
I'd like to chime in with a yes, take a hair dryer if you can find a light one and you feel like carrying it. I didn't have one but I will definitely take one next time. I walked from Apr 25 - Jun 2 and the weather was decent but after a long day, I was sweaty and dirty and needed a shower so...
Can anyone translate for me?
I want a top up for my Orange SIM card that includes data. At least one gigabyte.
I can't seem to explain that at the stores. They don't know what I mean when I say gigabyte or data. Or even Internet. All they seem to sell phone minutes. Argh.

I bought an Orange SIM card in Pamplona. Now I can't find a place to buy a data top up. I'm on the Meseta right now. The woman who sold me the SIM said I could buy topups at most grocery stores or tobacco shops. Anyone have any suggestions?
I was just looking at the Lebara links provided above and see that you can also buy them in France. Does anyone know if I buy and use one in France, if I can get the same card reloaded for use in Spain (assumably on the Labara Spain site)? And then maybe again when I go to Italy?
I'm back looking at this again. Now I'm considering buying a prepaid card that will work in France, Spain, and Italy for the 3 months I'm there (it actually works in about 20 countries). I can tether other devices to it and it comes with 7 GB data card for 75 euros with a top up option. Seems...
Yep, me too. Must be part of the process. I think I've finally got my gear list finalized. 13 1/2 lbs but only because Erik is going to carry my extra pair of shoes. (We are walking April 25 - June 4). Here's a link to my blog post on our Camino Gear...
Katie A. Feel free to PM me when you get to SJPP. We are staying at Gite Ultreia. Can't recommend it though since we haven't stayed there before. We are only going to Orrison on the first day. How about you?
I wear compression calf sleeves when running long distances (20km+) and found them very helpful to avoid injury and reduce pain. I have been considering bringing a pair along for the camino. I wear them on overseas flights so I'll have them in my suitcase anyway.
So - any advice for someone who DOES use a lot of data and doesn't want to have to rely on spotty wifi? I use my iPhone 6s to upload all my photos to the cloud and I sometimes use mapping apps which can use a lot of data. I figure I need 3-5 gigs for the 40 days I'll be in Spain. I DON'T need...
