Just a liner or sleeping bag? (Possible weather change)

Bring a sleeping bag. You only need a cheap, lightweight one. Not that much heavier than a liner and the albergues are often quite cold. Also you can bet there will not be a Decathlon close by if you need one.

1,000 Miles in a Lumbar Pack: Ultralight Camino de Santiago Packing List

A very interesting video. A little too minimalist for me in some areas like first aid equipment and lack of sleeping bag, however it is a workable system.

Need help deciding to bring or not to bring

Yes, it is a weight saving. However from a purely personal POV I don't like reading on my phone or taking it out to check the time. Kindle and watch for me and I can live with the extra weight.

Need help deciding to bring or not to bring

Hi Nina, my 2c worth. Take the kindle. Always nice to chill out for an hour or two reading before bed ot when doing your washing. Take the smartwatch. Always nice to see how far you have come and your heart rate etc. Take the trekking poles. Your knees will thank you. Take the hair brush. Take...

    Chinese shops???

When looking for a charging cable for my Garmin watch the bloke in the Chino was very helpful, going through all his stock even though he did not have one to suit. The bloke in El Corte Ingles on the other hand waved me off with a 'no' and did not even bother to look even though they sold Garmin...

    Topo Wearers!

After reading posts here and looking at reviews on other sites I bought myself a pair of Topo Traverse a couple of weeks ago. So far I have worn them on an 8k walk in wet weather as well as around the home and in town, tried them with thick socks, thin socks, no socks and am about to dig out my...

    Re-considering zip-off convertible pants

I am not a fan of zip off pants. Apart from the chafing they are a pain to convert from one to the other. Far easier to have separate shorts and long pants.

    Every kilo matters

Working out the weight management compromises is part of the fun of bushwalking. Every gram does count.

    Show me your backpack!

Oh Sarah, you have opened a wound! ;) I had a Gossamer Gear Mariposa Plus which served me well on three Caminos, plus numerous walks in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, but on my last Camino wear and tear finally caught up with it and it fell apart, held together with duct tape for the last...

    Sick of Merino! Bamboo instead?

Bamboo is soft, comfortable, retains water and takes forever to dry. Stick with merino

    Rain...rain pants?

Yes to rain pants. You may not need them for every passing shower but if you are walking a long way in steady rain they are worthwhile.

Good addition to a baseball cap

Senior Walking the Portuguese Coastal Route in the Rain: Advice Needed

Hi Raul. Prolonged walking in wet shoes can cause blisters and cold wet feet can lead to other problems. A pair of lightweight sandals or shoes to wear of an evening while your walking shoes dry out is essential. As mentioned above some albergues do not have heating so drying your footwear by a...

    Managing electronics

For me a Eurpoean charging plug with leads for my phone, kindle and Garmin watch, nothing else electronic. Last time though, I lost my watch charger on the plane and could not find one in Seville anywhere. Bought a cheap watch that did the job, and half way through the kindle cable gave out so...

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

I took the OP to be a joke and am surprised that some took it seriously. Humour is a very subjective thing however.

    Waterproof socks in Santiago

Hi fornazari, I would second trecile's suggestion about merino wool socks. I believe they are a better option than 'waterproof' socks.

Do I need to take sleeping bag for albergues?

Hi Anna. Yes, you need to take a sleeping bag, for the reasons Bradypus has explained above. It need not be an expensive -10 survival in the wilderness type, something light and cheap will do the job. Buen Camino!

Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

Don't worry about asking questions Marska, people here are more than happy to help out. Take sunglasses -you will certainly need them. Any outdoor shop can set you up with a good pair. 100 grams is not unreasonable for a hat. You will certainly need one as the Spanish sun can be very intense...

    No tech!!!

Doug, the context makes it plain the OP is talking about communication technology, not clothing or footwear or modes of transport.
