In 2016 I left mine in the taxi on the way to the airport in Paris. Thanks to Google all my photos were in the cloud. After an hour or so fretting I relaxed and continued my trip to Istanbul and then home without it, content to be 'in the moment.' Easier to type now than it was to live it then...
I used, and still use, a small bright red eyeglass case that has a clip to attach to any loop, I attached it to a belt loop. It keeps my glasses from getting crushed or left behind. I start out the day with regular glasses on my head, sunglasses in the case. About time for second breakfast...
To add to your confusion, I remind you that your feet and sensitivities are your own and no-one can rely on the experience of others in this area. Whatever you do it will not make or break your experience.
I took Birkenstock EVAs which are cheap, made of lightweight plastic of some kind...
I took an old, well-worn cotton pillow case and used it every night.
Next time I am taking a US size hand towel to use after showering as the camping towel I used on my first Camino felt terrible. I did not find any small towels for sale in Spanish stores, just big ones. I might throw it way...

It did amaze me when I was inducted into the Air Force and some guys THREW shoes at me after sizing me up and they all were really comfortable from the first...
Birkenstock EVAs worked for me, you can wear your regular socks or bare feet in them. Walked Burgos to Santiago in them as well as in Albergue and around town, no problems. And I wear them all the time at home, including right now. Very light and only $35 as I recall.
You likely don't need it. I did carry a small battery pack charging thing, never used it in 60 days of travel. That said, I did some sharing of time using an outlet, the phones don't need all night to charge. I had an android and an iPhone with me, neither ever hit the red zone.
There is no answer, whatever they wear will get them to the end.
I am 67 years old and walked from Burgos to SdC in Birkenstock EVAs with no pain, no blisters, and was ready to walk around the towns in them as well. They are cheap, light and really do work where my expensive Hola Hola hiking...
As someone else mentioned, EVA Birkenstock worked for me with double socks, thin under wool thick ones. In fact I walked from Burgos on in them, perfect comfort up and down all the hills after my Hola Hola hiking shoes caused problems. People did look at me strange, but they worked fine. I went...
