    Minimise backpack weight.

Oh dear, @Peterexpatkiwi! Maybe what you meant was "Oh the humanity!" Or is that "humiliation"? ;)

    OK guys, what underwear?

On the lighter side, this reminded me of a scene from Seinfeld. Elaine comments, "I don't know how you guys walk around with those things." See at 1:38 The issue of what underwear to choose is definitely one of those times when we ladies do not have "p**** envy". ;)

Senior Walking the Portuguese Coastal Route in the Rain: Advice Needed

Another tip, though not directly pertaining to wet feet: I wore zip-off hiking pants so when the bottom of the legs got soaked I took them off at a cafe stop and dried them on whatever heat source (radiator, etc.) I could find. So much more pleasant to not have the pants fabric clinging wetly...

    Boxer shorts - any recommendations

My boyfriend also loves Saxx. Saxx boxers, to be clear. ;)

    Smelly boots

I agree with @dick bird that GoreTex might be contributing to your problem. I have custom orthotics that are lined with a miracle fabric. After years of wearing them inside hiking boots and runners/trainers, I never get any smell at all. I'm taking them in for re-lining this week. I'll ask...

    Availability of 35mm film?

I also use 35mm film, and agree the easiest route (ha ha) is to bring adequate film with you. Buen Camino!

    No tech!!!

A few years ago in Seville I got hopelessly turned around in the old town and couldn't find my hotel. I noticed a youngish man walking down the opposite side of the road, carrying a smart phone. I crossed over and asked him in my terrible Spanish if he could help me find the hotel. He was...

    Quick drying hiking tshirt help

I wore a long-sleeved, lightweight merino shirt after being very impressed with the young salesman who said he had worn one for four days in a row and "didn't stink". If it was chilly I wore a long-sleeved silk undershirt. Most clothing will last longer if it's not washed every time it's worn...

Shakedown request: February on the Camino Frances, 35 pounds current weight

I definitely second the pants that zip off at or above the knee. If the lower legs get wet you zip them off and they'll dry quickly; meanwhile you're still dressed. You can even zip on the lower legs of the second pair to make a complete pair of trousers if you want to keep walking (as opposed...

    Hiking Sandals

Here's what I found online about the triangle with an exclamation mark: "Why do KEEN shoes have an exclamation mark on them? This "caution symbol" on the toe bumper of some of our hiking boots and hybrid sandals is for our KEEN. PROTECT design — our iconic and patented toe protection that helps...

Can I use a liner only?

A tip for being a bit warmer is to wear a soft hat or wind a t-shirt or towel around your head when you go to bed. Makes quite a difference in my experience.

Mini video camera to record my walk - thoughts?

I totally agree with @Jeff Crawley about the potential of shakiness. After watching an independent film (at a festival) made with a mobile phone I was unwell for two days. It was like the worst motion sickness ever, yet I have no problems on rough ferry crossings or trains. I also agree that...

Icebreaker Merino Shirts - Now a Blend - Alternatives?

Have you checked thrift/charity shops? I've found lots of amazing deals in them over the years. Some items are never worn before they're donated.

    The Five Pound Camino Pack

[ Her base weight (total weight less worn weight and consumables) is less than 5 pounds (about 2kg for those of you outside the U.S.), with a total weight of about 8 pounds (3.6kg). https://lighterpack.com/r/1cke53 Jo Jo and Nery A 500ml water bottle wouldn't provide a lot of hydration. I...

    Top tips and gentle reminders

Yes!! One thing I really missed was regular black pepper. Never once did I see it in Spain except in a high-end restaurant where they had a pepper grinder.

    Top tips and gentle reminders

Ummm . . . why are you putting a banana in a bag? Bananas come with their own protective cover. May I gently suggest that you put the price sticker directly on the banana, and other fruit as well.

    Help with Lamb's Wool Questions...?

Try PaSu Farms, north of Calgary, Alberta, Canada: http://www.pasu.com/shopping/products/category/health-wellness/ A small bag of wool starts at $3.25. I've used it primarily to avoid blisters when wearing my cowboy boots during the Calgary Stampede when walking in the heat on concrete and...
