I just finished Camino Frances last week, SJPP to SdC. I wore NEW (not broken in) Altra Lone Peaks with Injinji Toe Socks. I did not get any blisters. I met 4 women and one man with the same footwear setup. None of them had blisters either. I had 2 hotspots at the tips of 2 toes. I covered...
Hey veteran Pilgrims,
I’m currently just east of Pamploma. I’ve been carrying a fluffy fleece zip-up with me that I didn’t even use going over the Pyrenees during Saturday’s storm.
Do you think it’s something I can send ahead to Casa Ivar or do you think I’ll need it going forward. Note: I...
I start walking from St. Jean on Sept. 1st. My flight back to JFK is Nov. 3rd, so I can take some days to recover when I need to. I'll be going slow. You'll probably catch up to me! LOL
I actually changed my mind (It's our prerogative after all) and reserved an Altus as recommended by another member. I'll pick it up when I get to St. Jean.
@trecile I requested an Altus from the Pilgrim's shop in St. Jean! This is great! You saved me quite a bit of weight--the rain jacket and DuckBack were heavy. Thank you, thank you!
My next forum question was going to be to the women about GoGirl, SheWee, etc. LOL
Do a lot of women use them? I have one but I'm on the fence about bringing it.
I considered the Packa too, but I was worried about the strength & durability of the fabric, so I opted for a rain jacket. Please let me know how the Packa holds up.
I'm walking in Sept and Oct. I am not bringing any heels. I figure it's a pilgrimage--my comfort is more important than how I look. :-) Keep checking out Crocs. I saw some at an outlet in NY that were very light. I didn't buy them because I already have my lightweight shower sandals that I...
Hi Mike, Yes, I've heard from several people about shipping my bag ahead. I'll have to find out more about it when I get there. I'm sure that I will take advantage of that service especially during the first week or two.
I'm wearing Altra when I start in September too. I know a woman who walked the entire Appalachian Trail in them. I figured if they're good enough for the A.P., they're good enough for the Camino.
