Hello I walked the Camino da Costa from Porto in April 2019. It was my third of five Caminos and by far the wettest. On the days when the sun shines it is a beautiful walk but when the storms come in off the Atlantic you feel like building an ark. However it was always possible to get shoes...
Hi Eve
I have walked 5 times in April, May. June, July, September and October. I have only ever taken a sleeping bag line. The alberques have always provided blankets on the very few occasions I have needed them.

Vince,
I have walked in April, May, June, July. September and October and by far the most pleasant conditions I walked in were on the Camino Frances in September and October. However, the mornings can be a little cool, I usually set out between 06.00 and 07.00 wearing long sleeves but switch to short...
Hi.
I have walked in April, May. June, July, September and October. October was a beautiful month for walking in and for the first three weeks when I was walking there was no rain just bright, comfortable walking weather. However my family came out to spend the last week with me in SDC and from...
Hello
I walked Camino da Costa from Porto to SDC in April. From the point of view of warmth it was fine and I only used a sleeping bag liner. However this was the fourth of my five times on the Camino and it was without a doubt the wettest. On good days with the sun out it was a beautiful walk...
HI David
I am almost identical in height and weight to you, and I carry 8 kg comfortably. I have walked in April, May. June, July, September and October.
I have never carried insect repellent and have never needed it.
A headlamp is useful if you need to move around and alberque at night but...
I carry a waterproof waist pack (not a "bum bag" or "fanny pack"). It is adjustable around my waist and has zipped compartments for my passport, pilgrim's credential. wallet and loose change. It fits to the front under the waist strap of my back pack so is easily accessible. I wear it all the...
Hi Stephanie
I know there will be people who will disagree with me but running shoes are precisely that "running shoes". They are not designed for hiking and often even if their outer appearance is OK they are disintegrating inside. I am a Level 4 distance running coach and I advise all my...
HI Matt
You can get socks with anti-blister lining in them and the lining is quite cooling. I have used them and found them quite effective. However, don't go for sock liners that purport to have this effect as because they are not part of the actual sock, they are prone to slipping. I also use...
Hello
My view is yes. I have done four Caminos in 6 different months of the year including April and May. I have always been fine with just a liner but I don't really feel the cold. You can always put another t-shirt on if you get cold.

Hi Anne
I bought a pair of La Sportiva Trango GTX (very expensive I will admit) but they lasted me for 4 Caminos as well as other things. I replaced them last year and am about to head off for my fifth Camino next month. I guess you get what you pay for. I also used a pair of Teva trekking...
Hi.
I bought my trekking poles in SJPDP for my first Camino back in 2013. I still have them and will use them next month on my 5th Camino. I grew sort of attached to them and as my backpack always goes in the hold, I put them inside it. There was a good outdoor store near the big supermarket on...
Hi Lucy
I have walked in April, May. June, July. September and October and I have always found a liner to be plenty warm enough. Having said that I do not really feel the cold. My walk that finished in the last week in October was probably the nicest temperature wise. Hope this helps.
Buen...
HI Angeliki
From 29th May to 7th June, I will be walking Camino Frances from Morgade to Santiago with my granddaughters aged 10 and 7 along with my son-in-law. I have some reservations about keeping the younger one going but she is keen and we are training them at the moment. Here in England the...
HI Brid
I walked Camino da Costa from Porto in March/April and have been on Frances in June, July. September and October. I have always managed with a sleeping bag liner but then I do not generally feel the cold too much.

HI Rowie
They do not allow you to take poles into the cabin they must be checked. I have tried attaching them to my backpack in various ways and am now used to seeing poles that have come adrift on the carousel. I have just bought a new Osprey backpack that comes with a rain cover that doubles...
Hi Austin.
Shower Gel and toothpaste. Nothing more.
just as a guide, in case it well help. On my first Camino I carried 12/13 kilos. when I go t home i threw to one side everything i didn't use. I then had 8 kilos. That is all I carried the next 3 times. Don't overpack and remember you are never...
Hi Ashland
My advice would be not to use running shoes they are not designed for long distance walking. I say this as an experienced distance runner (14.17 for 5K and 29.58 for 10K) and a Level 4 distance running coach). I have also been on the Camino 4 times completing it 3 times and once...
Hello
I have walked 4 times in April, May, June, July, September and October. I have only ever carried a sleeping bag liner. They are light weight and fold up to nothing. On the occasions it does go a little chilly at night most alberques have a supply of blankets that you can use or you can...
Hi Tom
I have only ever carried a sleeping bag liner. They are lightweight and fold up to nothing. I have walked in April. May, June, July, September and October. They have usually been warm enough and most places have blankets if it does go a little cold at night.
