If You have Walked the Camino - Do you prefer boots or trail runners?

My feet will not tolerate boots. KEEN sandals worked fine.

Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

For me, no sunglasses; a bucket hat. Water resistant jacket to wear rain or shine. Poncho for RAIN (wind got under it and nearly lifted me off my feet) got wet anyway. Shoes - KEEN sandals to walk, something else - light - for evenings. Flip-flops for showers. There are stores along the...

    Shoes vs boots (again)

That was my choice after my feet totally refused boots and sneakers. Wearing those sandals here at home too.

    Keen Sandals

Exactly. To each, what works for them. My feet will not tolerate hiking boots but Keen sandals work fine. I do wear dress boots at home, just for ambling about, nothing near hiking/Camino walking.

Need help cutting down on gear/weight in my pack 🙏

I cannot wear wool next to my skin, even merino. I found silk long sleeved undershirt and leggings that were perfect for me the year I walked in October. They are an almost lacy knit that did not stick.

    Hiking Sandals only?

I used Keen sandals, and flip flops for shower. Then found a really light slip on for evenings along the way.

Tips to Keep your Hiking Shoes Dry in the Rain

wool socks, yes. My keens have a closed toe. Had an occasional pebble get in but really rare. Before my first camino I tried lace-up boots, as so much I was reading mentioned boots. Me feet rebelled! So actually began in sneakers and got my first Keens in Spain - Burgos? They are what I...

Tips to Keep your Hiking Shoes Dry in the Rain

I had a memorable rainy day with fleece jacket, semi-rainproof jacket and poncho. As there was some wind, the poncho tried to lift me up, it was warm so I was sweating and wet from inside out as well as outside in.... Keen sandals so of course my feet were wet. And the hood on the jacket -...

Tips to Keep your Hiking Shoes Dry in the Rain

Stuffing wet shoes with newspaper really helps them dry...

Do my feet change size as I age? Hiking boot sizing question

Got my Keen sandals at an REI. Also backpack. Was there in the store a couple of hours as the salesman tried several shoes, and more than one backpack, to find the right item and fit for each. Still using the sandals, though the straps are wearing some. Haven't done a trip with the backpack...

What not to take? And what to not forget?

I used flip flops in showers only. Keen sandals otherwise. My feet totally rebel to boots.

What not to take? And what to not forget?

One thing I've not seen anyone else mention; I had silk longjohns for May and October trips. Loved them. Light, dry easily. kept me warm without extra weight out on top. I feel chilly when others may not and this works for me at home here in the Pacific Northwest also.

What not to take? And what to not forget?

Thanks for the comment about not shining headlight in people’s eyes! So easy to forget when getting engrossed in what one is doing and can be annoying to dangerous to catch someone off guard and momentarily blind them.

    Absolute Bare Minimum Packing List

Yes, and I needed gloves. Did find a pair at a wee off-trail shop that was a pleasant encounter with a kind shopkeeper who rarely sees pilgrims.

    Your favorite camino hat!

Perfect. I have a cheaper version of this and like it!

    Quilt Recommendations

I have two weights of sleeping bags. Usually take the light one as I would not be interested in doing Camino in winter.

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

It is beautiful! Easy to understand why you take it on Camino.
