    Comments on my packing list?

Looks pretty good to me, i usually take 2 short-sleeved and one long-sleeved t-shirts, i only take 2 bras and I use my Buff as an eye mask but we're just talking small weight savings. Perhaps a lighter weight sleeping bag and a silk liner - i'm not sure where in the world you are but my friend...

Women over 60 who DON'T take a sleeping bag...

I’m 60 it would depend on what time i’m walking, first time i walked the Frances in September took a sleeping bag, didn’t use it, next time i didn’t bother and didn’t regret it. When i walk again in April/May i’ll take it because i’m not sure how warm it will be - especially if i decide to swap...

Help selecting Boots for our Walk.

Thanks for all your advice. I am going to try some Altra trail runners for my camino this year instead of my Merrell boots - i'll be walking the VdlP starting September when it is really hot and wasn't looking forward to walking in the heat in boots. :) I'll see how they go while i'm training.

Help selecting Boots for our Walk.

I use Body Glide on my feet each morning before walking and it seems to be good. I just rub it on all over my feet and toes. For a few months before walking I regularly soak my feet in a footbath, remove any hard skin that is forming with a pumice stone or foot scraper and then give them a good...

We Leave Tomorrow - I think I need a bigger Pack!

Your post made me smile - i'm usually rationalising my pack right up until the last minute :D Hope you both have a very "buen camino" look forward to reading your updates!

    Confused about Macabi Skirt

I'm also 5'3" love my Macabi and was pretty gutted to find that (as someone else mentioned) the delivery prices overseas had gone up so much as to virtually double the price, i would have loved another one. Mine is not the slim version skirt and is regular length (as far as i can remember - i'm...

    Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner/Clothes

Sorry @mfmarti2 I don't have the recipe, my friend makes it :) https://www.hebrideansoap-shop.co.uk/product/rose-leodhais-soap-bar/ I used half the bar...

    Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner/Clothes

;) Probably unlikely - I think they're like bed bugs and totally immune to Citronella :)

    Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner/Clothes

I had no problems or issues using the soap to wash my clothes, including socks and undies, it did a great job. It was quite a well matured, hand made, cold-process soap so was quite hard. I think anything soft would maybe end in bit of a mush. The only other cosmetic type items I took were a...

    Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner/Clothes

I like to travel light - the friend I walked with in 2013 must have had a kilo of cosmetics and stuff. I have my hair cut especially short and take half a bar of handmade (artisan) soap - 55g - I use this for showering, washing my hair and washing my clothes - though if I have a hotel stop it's...

    Bringing a camera?

As a pro photographer I had this dilemma when I walked my first camino in 2013 - I took my small Sony NEX-5 (it is a compact camera with a DSLR size sensor) with me in a case that would fit on my belt (I always covered the case with my hat when walking into larger cities). I didn't regret taking...

    Aarn packs - questions...

Hi folks Well i've spent two days trawling the forum and have more or less decided on replacing my poor broken Berghaus freelow womens rucksack (30+6 litres) with an Aarn pack - but which model? I'm inclined towards the Mountain Magic which is 40 litres plus each balance pocket is 6 litres...

    Walking Boots or open sandals?

Merrel walking boots, lightweight but hard wearing. If i'm walking say 20km, after about 15km i will change to my Keen walking sandals if it's not raining. I also remove my boots and sometimes socks as well when I stop for a rest. In the boots I wear 1000 mile trekking socks (double layered)...

    BackPack Flight Covers

Last time I put my rucksack into a large sack (looked like a large dry sack) because I couldn't fit my sticks inside my rucksack to check in. Once in Spain I shipped it ahead with some other extraneous stuff. However, on the return journey it survived OK from Santiago to London Standstead but...
