EDIT: am RE-TRACTING my recommendation of the company mentioned above.
For a new shipment needed from USA to europe...
hello Don Camillo (is there also a Peppone? pardon, had to ask)
... you are asking for 'the point' of a walking stick?
it is usually located at the lower/narrower (if that's a word) end of the hiking poles/walking stick.

i used a down blankie from cascade design for my camino - and loved it. good quality in my experience.
None of those so called sport-bra's (nor the sport-bars ;-)
ever really worked for me - thus I took my usual well constructed bra's with me - maybe not the newest one, but still in proper shape/s. (https://www.rigbyandpeller.com/ - yes, they are costly when not on sale (that's when i buy them) -...
Teen no longer, but VERY high arched as well. - thus knowing those issues too. what helped me were ARIAT shoes (up to ankle) WITH Montrail insoles (sometimes exchanged w/ silicon insoles).
the rain I encountered was up north - after Barcelos and certainly in Galicia. but w/ these shoes i NEVER...
yes - the first few days it was rather 'rough' on my collarbones (until then i barely ever felt my collarbones, barely knew i had any :-)
my remedy was buying dish-sponges and taped them to the underside of the strap, i.e. between strap and my body.
worked like a charm, admittedly looked rather...
that's a marvelous approach to life when combined with a very good dosage of consideration and realization how other might be affected by ones actions!
"the live and let live" stance to pilgrim life has provided me with numerous sleep-disturbed nights in dorms where pilgrims just had to blog...
hello laurie -
was quite happy w/ the Leki 'Wanderfreund' and still am - bought a pair via sierra trading post - with a fine discount.
still using them for my night walks around the neighborhood. very trusty items . no fuzz ... lightweight, realiable. even named them sometime along the camino...
prior to the pilgrimage i've read this advice many times and actually bought a pair of fine ARIAT hiking shoes 1 (one) size up my regular one. uh, wasn't a good idea. i had to return them and got my regular sized shoes.
and had a splendid time with them all the way to santiago, sans a single...
Gosh - that sounds perfectly miserable.
When you are back home , you might want to apply a 'feet pampering regime' to hopefully remedy the damage done by poor footwear. (self-massage, foot-exercises, balm/creme, proper pedicure, etc)
Cheaply made shoes never pay-off. but it pays to invest in...
never noticed anything what i wouldn't see in a public american pool (euro pool/beach exposures can be different, mind you) - nor would i be interested in seeing anything in regards to various states of dressing. nor did i feel ever exposed. wide or long clothing helps, and if need be, a sarong...
most of the items i carried along were multi-purpose items (well, except the knickers, bra etc) - had two longish tank-tops, one to sleep in and one to walk in (along w/ a long sleeved shirt, ultra-light but a good sun-burn shield) , which i alternated w/ wash/wear.
once, when all got soaked, my...
aside from liner/merino wool socks combo, body-glide applied on dry feet and common sense - I pampered feet before and during camino with daily massages (used an ayurvedic herbal oil, but i'd suppose any quality oil or balm would do) and also rested legs/feet up the wall A LOT :-)
very relaxing...
Ola -
pondered this question a bit and came to the conclusion that I used everything I packed (many items were multi-purposable) and nothing was shipped home or left behind.
but two issues also noted:
* would choose more lightweight sandals.
* would switch from rain jacket to poncho...
"We all perceive the world as a dangerous and scary place and that without the ready availability of technology we are doomed."
NO - I did not and do not perceive the world as a dangerous and scary place .... and I am never feeling that without the ready availability of technology we are doomed...
took with me a nokia UNLOCKED phone, the same i use here in US. placed my mobile phone services on 'suspended' during my 2 months euro-time (10$ monthly fee) and bought a 12euro SIM card in lisbon that i could 'restock' w/ euros in many places on the way when needed. served me perfectly. only...
hi william - even though i am just a li'l shrimp :-) (5'11" / 180cm) i had challenges finding backpacks long enough for a woman. i discovered the Deuter ones - bought one, and am quite happy. served me very well during the camino. they have a system that ventilates well (between back and the...
a) used my debit card for ATM cash withdrawal (informed bank about my euro travel and from which country they can expect withdrawal activity) in Portugal, Spain and UK and worked perfectly fine. Used SouthWestAirlines VISA card of credit card payment (it's a 99$ fee per year, but also saves on...
Am walking right now on the caminho with rather lightweight ARIAT shoes...and i have two different sets of insoles...one silicone and the other set have a bit more arch support.
ARIAT are the only walking shoes that i can start walking in right out of the shoe box...no break in time.
Best wishes...
