Horrible experience with Holafly!!! Purchased a data and phone esim. Had issues with the phone. They offered a 'new' esim, with same services. Turned out it was only for data and I ended up with no phone service for a couple days. Went back and forth a dozen or more times on email / text trying...
Someone inquired on a FB page, whether the Camino Ninja app will be adding the Norte route. If there is information that can be passed along, I'm happy to do so. TY!
I didn't feel the Ultraventure were as roomy as the running shoes. As a result, I ordered both a 1/2 size and wide. The wide fit more like my regular Topo running shoe. Perfect combo for me.
Another Topo lover and wearer, 1/2 size larger than normal, wore with Injinji & Darn Tough medium socks. Shoes lasted the entire Frances and the bottoms look almost brand new! Also took a pair of Ooofos slides for evening and recovery from long day.
Another recommendation for GoodR. Also, agree with comments re: having wide brim hat. I found that with the sunglasses I missed too much of the colors of the scenery, so relied more on the hat.
Loved my Topos for the Camino last Sept/Oct. They were dark color, and didn't notice any issues. Following guidance from fellow peregrinos I used a liner sock (Injinji) and then wool - Darn Tough. This did require me to size up. Also, no blisters.
REI 2L waist/fanny pack with 2 zippered compartments. Kept credential, Kleenex and phone in one, chapstick, sanitizer, passport and small wallet in other. It was on me almost always. Had a friend hold it while in shower.
I strongly suggest steering clear of Holafly! They engage in bait and switch games. I purchased an e-sim for both phone and data for 30 days. Had issues with the phone portion, and the rep offered to provide another e-sim at no additional charge. I specifically inquired whether services - phone...
We experienced the torrential rains of Galicia in late October. We stuck to our regular daily attire of shorts, t-shirts (long-sleeve if morning was cool) with rain ponchos on top. It is worth spending the money for a GOOD poncho. The less expensive one from Amazon did not live up to its...
I suggest a long-sleeve half-zip running top. These come in varying weights and the lighter ones, REI and other stores carry them, would be good alternative. I took one w/ me in Sept., threw it on over tank top then when it got warm off it came, then back on when it cooled in the evening.
TOPOS!!! I always recommend their shoes - as you noted - wide toebox, also very good arch support, (though I replace them w/ Currex insoles, due to high arches.) Mine held up beautifully from SJPDP to Muxia and Fisterre. Did have to replace one shoelace. Hard to believe these went nearly 600 miles.
I’ve just walked from St Jean to Puente Raina - rubber tips on the ENTIRE way. Faced rain, serious mud and decaying leaves on steep decline path I should not have taken. The poles and I did not slip once. Did they sink a bit in mud YES, did it make a difference not in the least. I plan to...
As for the newer Camino Tool, I keep getting errors when selecting the 'planner' option under the 3 bars in the upper left corner of the app. Sent a screen shot and note to the developers.
For those heading out soon for your Camino, the eSim Card from Alo is on sale. Merely relaying information.
