The charging issue is interesting. if your device uses normal U.S. current you will need a converter and most of them are kind of heavy. (As in a pound or more in weight!)I found one in a computer store that converts using a usb port and it is very light but your device needs to be capable of...
you have got yourself into something wonderful. many will be with you and behind you. My daughter and I will be about a week behind you. Enjoy the Camino, it's a blessed experience.
in 2001 my brother in law and I got lost and ended up fording a fast moving stream, made it to! No beer in or near the stream! We missed a sign that said, "bridge out". When we got into town and mentioned our trek, others looked at us and said, "trouble reading?" oh, well it was an adventure...
The mid looks good. I am planning on walking in new balance county walkers. They have no ankle support. I'm a bit worried about their ability to manage rain and mud so I am going to walk a couple of full days in them in Washington state next week. hope to test them out then about a month prior...
I'm looking for a small reading lamp for some quiet reading time at night. A recent magazine is suggesting a headlamp called a black diamond Cosmo. 30 dollars. says it has a 1/2 watt led for spot uses and two smaller leds for proximity uses like reading. any thoughts? thanks
Gareth: I think I might just purchase a spanish knife and post it home at the end. I plan to post a few other items or even just check my pack so that sounds the simplest solution, and simple on the pilgram trail is most often best. Thanks to all for the good conversation on this topic.
the issue is not whether a knife or anything else is necessary, for me the Camino is a spiritual experience and having a few nice things with you that make the experience a bit more enjoyable is a good thing. Last time I was mostly in pain and I did find God present in the pain. I had a mystical...
I just got a Jensen "power and travel", foreign voltage converter and want to use it on the Camino. Anyone used one? did it work ok and what were the challenges if any. (it says it converts 220-240 volts to 110-120 volts ac.)
I just read another thread in the equipment discussion and got a good answer. I'm thinking of a small package to check and bring the pack with me. last time I put the pack in a luggage pack made for a backpack. the only challenge was then sending the luggage pack to Santiago. it worked but took...
I'd like to bring a small knife on the Camino and yet I'd rather keep my pack with me on the plane. Obviously, not going to work! Anyone find a good alternative or is it just easier to check the pack?
