Feedback on packing would be (really) appreciated.

+1 Ditch the paracord. Every albergue I stayed at on the CF had a line somewhere to hang clothes and towels.

    Shoe problem

What happens if you stretch your calves and soles? I get cramps in the soles of my feet if I don’t stretch enough.

What shall I remove from my pack.... 🤔

Can confirm that magnesium is easy to find on the CF. I bought some twice along the way, really helped with my twitchy legs.

What shall I remove from my pack.... 🤔

I never found any use for my pocket knife on the CF. I did carry an ultralightweight first aid kit. Only thing I used was the antibiotic ointment which I gave to another pilgrim who got a huge cut on his hand.

    Hokas with wet grip?

Mine still have good tread but they’re incredibly gross at this point and will definitely get tossed in Santiago. I don’t want to subject my fellow passengers on the long flight home to eau de peregrino. :)

    Hokas with wet grip?

I’m on the CF now wearing Hoka Speedgoat 5s (just reached Sarria) and so far they’ve been excellent. No issues with grip, but it’s been quite dry these past five weeks so they haven’t really been tested. By the time I reach SdC they’ll probably have close to 1000km on them but they’re holding...

Recommendations for presentable, smart looking walking shoes

There are no fashion awards on the camino. Personally I would reconsider caring how your shoes look—they’re going to get dirty and muddy anyways.

Packing List : What to sleep in and on ?

I sleep hot as well. I have a pair of very lightweight running shorts from North Face that I wear after showering for the day and then in bed. They can also serve as a swimsuit on occasion. I’ve been quite happy with them.

    Injinji socks

I have historically had trouble with blisters between my toes, but the combination of Injini toe socks (with a lightweight merino outer sock) and an extra wide shoe have kept me from getting any blisters so far on the CF (just reached Leon today).

    Walking Sticks! (yes, i know)

The REI info is great, though I think their suggestion of shorting/lengthening poles by 5-10cm for steep inclines or declines is probably overkill at least on the CF. The grades don’t really justify more than 2-4cm IMO. Their advice is more appropriate for strenuous mountain hikes.

    What not to bring

I don’t know what’s “standard” but my pack weight above includes the backpack.

    What not to bring

I start on the CF next Wednesday. Last night I fully packed my backpack and it came to exactly 5 kilos without water. I plan on carrying 2L of water every day due to the heat so this puts me exactly where I hoped to be at 7kg total. I was even able to get a few extras into my weight budget like...

    Bed bug sheet, any use?

This isn't of any use on the camino, but I have a bed beg suitcase heater that I use when I get home from travel. I've had some run-ins with the bugs in the past and use this as my last line of defense to keep them out of my home. https://www.bedbugsupply.com/Bed-Bug-Heaters.html It's...
