    Two backpacks?

Are you even sure you can have your backpack transported on the Camino Dos Faros. It is a relatively unknown Camino. I would just make sure my regular backpack is light enough that I can carry it all the way. You really don't need much.

    OK guys, what underwear?

I wore Saxx Boxers with the ballpark pouch that keeps your man parts away from your legs. These work really good to prevent friction down there. I would never wear a brief because they run right along your friction area.

    Walking Poles

In the backpacking world they say to shorten the pole when you are hiking up a mountain and to lengthen it when walking up a mountain. But my big tip about hiking poles is to put some stickers or ribbons on them so you can tell they are yours. Sometimes at albergues everyone is putting their...

If you are thinking of a poncho - here is the Ultimate

yeah, that's just one more thing to mess around with when you could just be putting on a raincoat and being done with it.

If you are thinking of a poncho - here is the Ultimate

If they blow around they are letting the cold air in. Back in 2010 when I backpacked through the Boundary Waters I used a poncho and it worked well. I had an ultralight tent with no tent floor. I used the poncho as a tent floor as well as it's regular duties in the rain. But, on the camino I...

If you are thinking of a poncho - here is the Ultimate

Yeah, and I have seen hundreds of ponchos flapping in the wind. Plus a regular raincoat is closer to you and will keep you warm in the shoulder season. Of course, some ponchos are better than others, but if I do it again, I'm taking the raincoat. I wish I had the first time.

If you are thinking of a poncho - here is the Ultimate

"if you were thinking of a poncho?" Don't be. Spain is a leader in wind energy for a reason. it has a lot of wind. And ponchos don't do all that well in the wind.

    Packing for Aug - Sept

Remember if you bring a rain coat, not a poncho, it can double as a warmth coat. I started on Sept 2, 2022 and after about two weeks it started getting cold. I did have some Columbia Zip Off Pants, but I never zipped them off except for going into a pool early on in the hike.

Walking poles to buy in St Jean?

Where are you flying into. Let's say it's Madrid. There you would have to go from the airport to the Attocha Train Station. There's a Decathlon about 6 blocks from Attocha

Wow, what kind of reply is that after I gave you some great advice and encouragement?

    Last Minute Footwear Change

What's the question? Perhaps you want people to approve of your choice, but, it's whatever makes you happy. If you think the Allbirds are more stylish and would look better when you are cooking with the gastronomy society, so be it. My only question would be durability, but if you are only...

    Alternative to a sleeping bag

Mug or not? (and other kitchen ware)

For my next camino I was thinking about bringing a little collapsible cup or mug. And every time I see a water faucet I will take a drink from it. Then I won't have to resupply my water bladder as much.

    Packing cubes or dry bags

I use a waterproof liner that's the same size as the backpack. Then I have 3 bags inside of that. One is for the sleeping bag, one is for clothes and one is for everything else. And inside my bag that holds everything else, I have stuff organized in ziplocks. For backpacking in the U.S. I also...

To poncho or not to poncho?

I had a poncho on my September 2022 hike on the Camino Frances. I hated it. Spain is a leader in Wind Energy. There's a reason for that, there's a lot of wind. If I took a regular raincoat I could have used it for just a plain warmth coat, too. Davebugg listed a bunch of stuff the Poncho...

Selfie stick - to bring or not to bring

I have a little handle for my go pro. If I don't use it I get more footage with my thumb in it. Now, I have a little handle that folds out to be a short little three legged camera tripod

Backpack question: Ospreys Stratos 36L vs 44L?

For the 36 you could always hang a bag off the back of it if you need more room. You failed to mention when exactly you are doing the camino. If it is in the summer, you need less stuff, so the 36 might work out. The one thing you could do is assemble all the stuff you are bringing with you...

    Towel - which size?

Some people brought bigger towels and were using them as a privacy curtain on their lower bunk beds.
