I wore a white long sleeve fishing shirt. Great sun protection, let any breeze through, nicely vented. Fast drying. It stayed white. I wore it everyday.
I used a light weight Sea to Summit poncho. The trick to keeping it from flying around is to use a heavy string/light rope to tie a belt around your waist. I a very small, so most rain gear was too big. My clothes line string was my belt. I also had enough to cut some off and share with others...
Diamond Z poles worked great for me. Adjustable for up and down hill, which helped my bad knee. I was more comfortable with my hands a bit higher than parallel to my body.
Because the poles folded into 3rds it was easy to keep them in my pack when I didn't need to use them. Also no need to...
I wore Eco sandals the entire time. Wright socks in dry weather and heavy wool socks in the hard rains. Your feet will get wet at some point. We walked in rain for 4 days in a row.
I tried water proof socks but my feet were wet from sweat. Left them after the first day of hard rains.
I wore Wright socks as well. First hiking length and then bought pedi-socks when we were out of the mountains and it got warmer. Took several combinations of socks and ended up only using the Wright socks. I did have and used one pair of heavy wool socks that were wonderful when it was wet and cold.
This is a great thread.
Yes, you will be hot / cold/ wet / ...... You will figure out how to use what little is in your pack to make life work. You will leave behind, along the way, what doesn't work. There are stores in Spain. Take something that makes you happy and makes you smile.
My solution to the constantly tense muscles was to stop walking for a week. Let them relax. Then start again with shorter distances. A couple of weeks or so before the start of your Camino, stop walking, rest, eat, relax.
While the Camino is not the easiest walk in the world, it is not a...

Wright double layer hiking socks worked for me. One bister where I had a callous, changed to sandals for a couple of days. Wore Eco sandals.
Your feet aren't like my feet, or anyone else's. Try different socks. Find a pair of shoes/boots that feel "made for your feet" in the store. Then walk...
Everyone said not to take it. Everyone said it was a waste of extra weight.
Wore my caftan, floor length, to bed, wore it while doing laundry if needed. Wore it out to dinner because it was comfortable. Put it on, over my clothes, in a small pubic park so I could take off the warmer weight...
I discovered Medipore tape. Stays on for 4 or 5 days, handles water great, doesn't irritate my skin. A donut of mole skin with the bottom of my foot taped = no impact blisters. Takes a little bit of scrubbing to get the glue off.
I have an Osprey Mira, the water bladder is very well made, does have a separate area between the stuff compartment and the back vent area. The compartment is water proof, so even if it breaks your stuff won't get wet. It is a complete pain to fill it in it's holding area or put it in full of...
I have a large silk sheet (bag liner) and a cut down fleece bag liner. I cut the fleece to fit inside the sheet liner. In the dry sack it weighs 482 gms or 1.1 lbs. (17 ozs).
The silk liner is the size of a twin bed and has a place at the top to put a pillow in.
