If you’re doing the full del Norte you will probably get lots of rain.
If you decide to veer off to the Primitivo (many do) you may get cold as well.
In addition there will be beautiful hot days (but not as hot as the other side of the hills).
Pack for the conditions. No point in being...
No worries FRM. Pleased it helped.
If it’s the Camino Francés you’re referring to, you should be fine as far as durability is concerned.
Buen Camino

Hi FRM
You wanted to know about durability. Last year I walked about 1100km from Vézelay to San Sebastián before I had to change mine for a new pair, to finish at Santiago, another 900km. So 2 pairs over 2000km. The first pair (shown on the left) were worn and comfortable but otherwise fine...
Hi @Isca-camigo
I’ve found icebreaker leggings to be too warm. I used silk leggings (bought online) last year (April on the Vézelay Route) and they worked for me. Lightweight and dry quickly. The family laughed but they didn’t walk with me!
Biggest problem is they bleed black die when you wash...
Hi Boring
@trecile has suggested (? recommended) FindPenguins app.
Last year I walked about 3 months on my Camino and my family was able to follow me nearly every night (depending on wifi access) with gps plots, blog and pictures. The gps plots don’t need wifi I don’t think, but the words and...
One spare long shoe lace, two plastic clothes pegs, two safety pins, one small carabiner. All multi-functional. They don’t weigh much. I probably needed a clothesline once or twice a week, but in hotels or Chambres d’hôtes/Casas Rurales.

On my first Camino I carried an alarm clock, two novels, three Camino guides, a torch, a transistor radio, a cassette recorder, a map and a Berlitz Spanish/English guide. I walked an extra 100 km looking for pay phones to call home and carried plenty of coins. I had travellers cheque’s that I...
I went from Vézelay to SDC (via Norte and Primitivo) with a lightweight (disposable) cheap poncho from Kathmandhu. Price was $NZ10. Very light, very packable. It’s weakness was the way it was punctured by brambles and blackberry. I patched these rips and little holes with bits of duct tape which...
Wore them from Vézelay to SDC, very happy (2 pairs over the 1900 km, changed them over at San Sebastian)
Lots of Vaseline when it’s wet and wring out the socks. Easy to dry overnight.
I use orthotics in them to prevent plantar fasciitis.
Love the big toe-box for my manky old feet.
I had pains...
I wore LonePeak 4.0 from Vézelay to Santiago de Compostela, via del Norte and Primitivo, about 1900km.
I took out the inner sole and used dr Scholl’s orthotics to give more arch support.
My first pair lasted to San Sebastián. My second pair have a couple of hundred k’s left in them.
I was...
