I went one and a half sizes up in Salomons last year ....previous Camino ten years ago I went two sizes up and had no issues. This time I developed big toe problems probably caused by pressure on descents and padding only increased the pressure. I resorted to wearing only a nylon stocking liner...
KIA ORA
A belated return greeting from another Kiwi. I leave from Wellington tomorrow afternoon and start from SJPdP Saturday. Thankful for op shops and an abundance of Icebreaker light gear!!
Buen Camino
Thank you I am hearing you! I leave tomorrow for Paris en route!! My bag is pruned down however the merino leggings and LS top are back in. Already I have an ultra light LS icebreaker top and SL too to layer up and down . Will still plan on walking and travelling in the hiking pants. Have a...
I have full length Kathmandu merino leggings and a 3/4 Icebreaker pair as possibilites. I guess I was getting nervous that it would be really hot over the Pyrennees and non-wool shorter leggings rather than hiking trousers might help there. Pre-Camino nerves probably.
I leave from SJPdP on 24 September, flying into Paris early next week. I have my pack largely organised however I will be walking slowly and may add additional routes since my return date is 12 November so there is likely a change in weather over that time. I will be wearing light hiking...
May I post a question about Lefrench SIM? I will be in France before and after my Camino. Can see on their website they will post out their SIM free. Has anyone used this company?
Hi Magnara
Would you mind listing the gear you took for October? I'm finalising my gear and it will largely be merino too. I will be away walking various routes for around 50 days from 24 September until 12 November and really want to stay as light as possible.
Thanks
I have been looking at the Salomon shoes and will try some this week. Do you have an opinion about Gortex or not? I think there was some debate about this.
I'm doubting my choice of footwear 10 weeks out from my Camino and welcome advice. Ten years ago, I walked in Asics Trail shoes Duomax two sizes bigger than usual and they were great - no blisters etc. Well...I did discover a stress fracture injury once I was home! I have bought a similar...
Hi Elizabeth. Greetings from a fellow Kiwi. I'm from the Kapiti Coast and planning to leave from SJPDP on 23 September... taking it slowly since I have two months in Europe...flying home on 16 November. I resolved NOT to sweat over my gear however I find that I am!. I'm 68 and walked the...
So pleased to read your comments! I bought an Altus on my last Camino 10 years ago after a week of rain. I felt then that if I needed to sleep rough I could - under my own "shell!" It's definitely coming for my late September - November Camino this year however at 5'2 tall I'm swamped in it so...
Your reply prompted a quick google search considering content I have on another app and here's a link that might help. http://lifehacker.com/5977636/what-do-i-do-when-one-of-my-favorite-apps-gets-pulled-from-the-app-store I'll get my techos to help out. Thank you!
Thank you. This looks exactly what I'm looking for. I enjoyed seeing your Camino too. I will be starting from sjpdp on the 23 September - the daye you were finishing. It was interesting to note the temperatures towards the end.
