    Vodaphone Travel eSim

Today, I was just going to post this question! I think Holafly will still be my choice as I will have unlimited data. Thanks for posting this thread, it is useful.

    Walking Poles

Don't worry about how you look. I wonder if the poles are too short and you're bent over them? If so, raise them so that your forearms are parallel to the ground. Just walk and let them swing forward, soon you'll forget you have them (until you leave them in a cafe or albergue)! Practice and...

    Difference Between Altras

I trained with Lone Peaks with no issue. Got the Altra Olympus and wore them on this Camino. I didn’t realize this, but They have a narrow heel, which didn’t bother me until I wore my pack for 18 kms. Blisters on the outside of both feet, exact location. Big blisters! Without the weight and...

    Shoes vs boots (again)

Yep! Based on all the help I've received on this topic, I bought the Altra's Olympus 4 (on sale!). I took them out for a training walk this morning with my full pack and felt steady and comfortable with no heat in my shoes whatsoever! My feet are adapted to the zero drop, as I have been...

Help selecting Boots for our Walk.

So informative, thanks! I just purchased Altra W. Olympus 4, with a vibram (tougher) sole. Same great toe box, beefer grip. (only 1.2 lb). 3 days to Spain.

    Shoes vs boots (again)

Thank you! Exactly what I need to know. Altra really fits my wide toes. Was worried about the thin tread. I'll check out the Olympus 4 when I get back! Thanks again.

    Shoes vs boots (again)

THAT'S it. Thank you so much. My old steady Vasque boots it is. I'll just trade out socks on the Meseta if my feet get too hot. Again...thank you! I leave in 4 days.

    Shoes vs boots (again)

It’s the mountains on the San Salvador that I’m most worried about. Both are good footwear: I’ll flip a coin? ;-)

    Shoes vs boots (again)

Altar Lone Peak 5 (thread wearing) vs Vasque boot. 7 days on the Meseta + the San Salvador Camino. I leave in 6 days! Both are worn in. Lone Peaks are fast and light with glorious toe room. Vasque has good support, but can get “hot.” Your opinion please? Thanks!

How do you secure your backpack from theft as checked luggage.

The small packable grocery bag works great for this! Good advice!!

The Shoulder Harness System: the first essential component for a good backpack

Love your writing!! Now to dig my Osprey out and play.

Using a larger Backpack, just not filling it up. Thoughts?

I have a 46 Osprey that I've NEVER filled up. I just zip it closer and tighten it down. I usually pack 2 sets of clothes and the typical minimalist list (you'll find all over this forum). Why? Because when I go to Madrid for a few days following the Camino I fill it up with beautiful things...

    Towel - Help!

A cotton scarf or a sarong works great.

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

I have a cedar board used for baking fish. It's very light, so I'll pack it: good idea! Thanks!

    Water bottle adapter

I used one like this and loved it. Keep it rinsed everyday. It can grow bacteria quickly. Mine was a little different.

    Ladies Osprey Packs

I love, love, love my Osprey 46, I don't overload it; saving room for souvenirs. I love the side zip pockets, keeping my rain pants on one side and rain jacket on the other. The bottom access lets me quickly access my sleeping bag (very light down) and claim my bunk. I actually purchased another...

    The color of safety

Reflective gear: I have a great light vest I wear when walking at home, but my pack would cover up most of it. I'm wondering why Osprey/Dueter hasn't picked up on this and incorporated reflective strips into the shoulders and backs. I do have reflective tape that I can sew on. Maybe I'll sew it...

    Shampoo/conditioner

Depending on your hair type: some have hair that can wash and wear; but my hair become drier and drier (bigger and bigger) as the trek went on. I couldn't find good conditioner, so I pulled back the "rag mop" and trekked on. If you stay every once in a while at a hotel you might find...
