I was experiencing pain in the same area. My PT suggested a “patellar band”. It is worn just under the kneed and supports the tendon that goes over the knee cap. Have you been checked out for possible patellar tendonitis? Just a thought....
I bought a Gregory 38L..it is quite heavy at 3+lbs. So, I went back to REI to try the Osprey...my friend who is doing the Camino with me is carrying an Osprey and it is just over 2lbs. I decided to stick with the Gregory because it fits me so well and feels so good and once it’s on my back...
I’m going to decorate mine with a Forum patch, a Camino documentary patch and an Oregon patch and maybe another one if I can find what I”m looking for.
D. Your photos are absolutely beautiful. Now you've got me thinking about my Samsung Galaxy 2 and the HDR app. Lots to consider..between my Cannon S100 and the smart phone. Pros and Cons about both. Hmm! My S100 went with me in 2012 and I loved it. I have it on a fairly long cord around...
Not sure how an umbrella will work with 2 trekking poles which are an absolute necessity for me. I have plenty of opportunities to practice while walking this winter in Portland.

I bought my Altus in SJPdP and had a love/hate relationship with it all the way. It kept me warm and kinda dry in driving rain that hit me in the face. I say kinda dry because there was a lot of condensation. There are no leaks, though. Getting into it wasn't too much of a chore, but...
I wore Keens from Astorga to Santiago because of blisters and an infected great toe. I just couldn't face walking in my shoes (which were well broken in) even after my blisters and the infections healed. My feet felt wonderful and had no problems with stones or gravel because i wore socks...
While on the Camino last Fall, I dealt with blisters and an infected toenail. Compeed, duoderm, did little to help, but then I have major foot issues...hammer toes (:( ). there is not a pair of shoes made that don't hurt. I ended up walking from Astorga to Santiago wearing smart wool socks...
Man, I've got to visit this forum more often. Thank you all for your replies to my question. I have bought an Ipad Mini 16g and it will get here Monday. Only now I"m thinking...do I want to take it, along with the cell phone I bought in Spain last year (very simple flip type) and my camera...
I'm thinking about taking an iPad on the Camino to post on a blog while walking next year. I have no experience with iPads...will a 16g be sufficient? I'm looking particularily at the iPad mini. My smartphone is not an international phone, so that will not do me any good. Has anyone rented a...
