Trail Runner Brands That Work for wide feet

If you can walk or run good distances in Asics the Camino is absolutely doable in them. I walked with Asics GT2000s in 2015. I think everyone would agree, though, that if you are going to splurge on any gear at all for the Camino it should be footwear. Keeping your feet as happy as possible...

Trail Runner Brands That Work for wide feet

I walked the Camino in 2015 in only 1 pair of Asics but these days I basically only hike distances in Hoka Speedgoats. Very very very comfy over distances. Takes a couple weeks to get used to all the extra cushion but it's very worth it over distance. I will be using a new pair for my Camino...

    $31 pack?

I haven't done testing but I tend to agree. Anyone focusing on gear should focus on footwear. Primarily what their feet feel best in over long durations and varied climates.

Trail shoes for a New Balance 880 lover?

Asics have been my go to thus far as well. Nice and light and they expand out as my feet expand. For the OP it depends on your ankles, imo. If your ankles never have issues (especially on long walks or hikes) I'd think you'd be fine in either type.

    Women: Advice on trail runners/shoes

I think you should be great then! One thing I watch out for now (from the Scotland experience) is strong material around the toe box (around the toes). I'm not a big fan of this as I prefer moes toes to expand into material or mesh that is soft instead of restricting, hard material. The Camino...

    Women: Advice on trail runners/shoes

I have the Speedgoat 2's and they have lasted me well over 1000 KMs so far and I usually use them as my trail shoe, often in rain. I did my first Camino just in Asics and plan to do this coming one the same. I think Hoka Speedgoats would be a fine choice. You will want to wear them in for...

Poll How heavy is your backpack?

In 2015 my pack was just under 9 kg but this was because I wasn't just doing the Camino... I did 8 distance walks over 6 months and brought a tent and other gear. I'm actually bringing the same pack this year for it but with tent and some stuff replaced with drone and some other, slightly...

    Backpack Type!

I bring a larger backpack but this would be fine too. Honestly you don't really need to bring much. Worst case scenario you get to St Jean and decide to buy a bigger bag. Outdoor store there is small but not all that expensive, IMO.

    Raincoat or poncho?

I bring a rain shell coat. This year I will be walking from May 15 - June 21 on Camino (Same as last one I walked in 2015). The last time I was on I encountered rain a total of 3 of the days, 2 of which were the 1st two days

    The shell?

For my Camino I found my 3 scallop shells on the beaches of Normandy @ Juno beach.

Can anyone confirm or refute the following....?

Ya I met a fit 22 year old guy who had been backpacking for months a couple days in at Larasonna. He was hauling around a laptop a DSLR Camera and a bunch of heavy lenses. I lost him and last I heard he blew out a knee coming down from Alto del Perdón was done and heading back to the beaches...

Footwear inquiry for the Pyrenees section

I think it's practice and balance and I tend to think it's more difficult for taller people to go downhill quickly. I don't have real evidence to back that up, it's just my experience. I've just lived on quite steep hills almost all my life. No topic: As mentioned the Camino isn't a mountain...

    Please rate my packing list

Only things I suggest are the two foot care products I brought: Gold Bond Medicated Powder and Dr Scholls Foot Spray. Keep your feet happy and everything else is a breeze. The majority of conversations the first couple weeks revolves around how poor people's feet are doing and how much XXX...

Footwear inquiry for the Pyrenees section

I only ever do walks in running shows. The section wasn't bad for me because i'm used to going up/down mountains. The hard part is the down on this trail into Roncesvalles. If you're someone who tends to roll ankles you might want a bit more support... but after that the only other hard...

Can anyone confirm or refute the following....?

    1. I can't speak to walking in March/April but I walked the English Camino North of Santiago at the beginning of November and I didn't find it cold at all, and I had just come in from Turkey. Northern England in September 2015 was way way way colder for me than Northern Spain in November 2015...

    Hiking Shoes, or Hiking Boots?

Did you try using two pairs of thin socks? The other foot tools I brought were gold bond medicated powder and a dr scholz foot spray. I'd spray my feet at the end of the day, then cover them in powder.

Is a cotton/silk liner enough for sleeping?

This one: https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5025-521/Equatorial-Sleeping-Bag-%2B15-%2B22C It was great on the Camino, way way way to cold when I was on the Coast to Coast though.

Is a cotton/silk liner enough for sleeping?

I started May 16th and was fine with only my very light bag. The only place that was even close to cold was the first day over into Roncesvalles. After that it was warm and then hot in the meseta. Even doing the English Camino at the very end of October and having come from Turkey I didn't...

    Hiking Shoes, or Hiking Boots?

Only shoes I ever wear on long walks: The only long walk I have done so far i'd consider actual boots for when I do again is the Coast to Coast in England. Now THAT is mud and boggy conditions.

How to train for the Camino?

Well I did meet my best friend from the Camino on the first night in Orisson, however there was a group of about 20 of us who still chat today from all over the world and we didn't really have the group very solidified until the last week or so of the walk.
