    What to sleep in...

Okay, I'm a little confused by this. I have yet to go on a camino but when do you undress to only your "knickers"--I am assuming you mean "underpants"-- and a T-shirt? Do you do this in the bathroom and then walk to your bed, or do you undress at your bed, or do you undress once your under the...

    Hiking umbrellas for sun protection

In the great blog, "A Good Walk Unspoiled" by "John and Robin," about their walk from Le Puy to Santiago, John writes of how they have become converts from heavy, hot rain gear to umbrellas. They used the trekking umbrella from Golite. In my research I have discovered that Golite went...

Please help with my packing list - taking dresses - am i daft?

By all means take your makeup, creams, lipsticks, etc. if you want to! It doesn't make you any less of a pilgrim. If the weight of these items becomes an issue, then reduce your selection.

Gear Report--What Actually Worked, What Did Not. For a Summer Camino

Please, please, would someone tell me how to save to a CF folder. I have no idea where this is and how to use it. Thank you!

Ah, very interesting. I sew and would like to know where you purchased "technical fabric?" Thanks.

The Rain Gear Debate and Poncho Choice....

I have yet to walk the camino, so my advice can be taken with a grain of salt. I have, however, read the great blog, "A good walk unspoiled. John and Robin's road to Santiago." It was written this past summer (just Google it). They walked from Le Puy to Santiago and they seemed to have very...

Wearing a Kilt on the Camino

Okay, fellas, please try to view the "skirt" when it is converted to blousy pants. The "skirt" can be worn three different ways. That is more of what I had in mind. On second thought, nevermind.

Wearing a Kilt on the Camino

You might also consider the men's version of the Macabi skirt. The women on this site seem to love it. It is made of material that is great for hiking, has deep pockets, dries in a jif, repels dirt, and would solve the underwear/no underwear issue --- you could do either. Personally, I would...

sleep sheet vs light sleeping bag

Wow, your list, details, and photos are fantastic. I really appreciate it. Clearly you have an engineering mind and were very clever with your adaptations. I like that. I am confused about one thing: why did you want merino vests for hot weather? For what it's worth, my family podiatrist...

    Trimming Backpack Straps

I will be taking eye liner and lipstick no matter how much they weigh! No negociation on that. I am even considering taking a feathery powder puff for perfumed talc. The powder, of course :), will be in a zip lock bag, not the lovely Jean Patou container it comes in. I have a lovely...

Why is there soooooooooooo much choice!?

I just bought two pairs of shoes for training for my walk next summer. While my feet aren't wide, I have bunions, which means I need a wide toe box and a wider type shoe. I tried on the Keen Newports and they hurt, just standing there in the shop. The Keen's Whisper sandals, which look very...

    Thanks for this info.

    Should I buy these socks?

What are the twinges of tendonitis? Where in the leg do they occur?

    Should I buy these socks?

They take a little bit of getting used to wearing. The first time I could only wear them about 15 minutes. Now I wear them a few hours before bed. At some point I will try to sleep in them. My bunions are hereditary; they were evident when I was a child.

    Should I buy these socks?

Thanks, that might be the way to go for me. I have seen those and they were recommended to me by an owner of a dance shop, although I've yet to try them. She called them "jelly toes." That might be a trade mark name. I should probably start a new thread, but as long as we're on the subject...

    Should I buy these socks?

Doug, if I remember correctly (from a previous thread) you have bunions. Is that correct? I have bunions and was looking at sock liners at REI and they look very tight to me. A tight, narrow sock does not work well with my bunions. Have you found a liner that works well?

    Walking Sandals???

I love your photos! Great idea to photograph your feet on the way.
