    Replace trail runners or not

Thanks everyone for your replies....... Its such a pity - If only for that part I would say I would get another 200km from them - new pair incoming unless I see some magical repair solutions!

    Replace trail runners or not

Hi, I am about four weeks out from starting a 200km trek from Malaga. My trusty Salomon lab xts are starting to cause trouble. The heal pads have worn and on my last training walk today if 17km I got a slight blister on my heal. Question is, do I get a new pair and risk not having them walked in...

In Betanzos and need new backpack, maybe

Sometimes the Camino is telling us something and we just don't want to listen!!. For one thing it might stop the issue dominating your thoughts. (I know I am presuming they are here, maybe there not)

    Sandal size

Zordmot, My feet seem to have got used to them now. Did 15km training today and all was good. I replaced the elasticated laces with normal non elasticated ones which appears to have helped stop the blisters. Have invested in some tape as well should I feel some hot spots...... Three weeks to...

    Sandal size

I'll try them with socks next outing. Newport h2 here as well. Get what you say about street cred. My daughter said she wouldn't even walk from the front door to the gate with me when I had them on. I have done boots but my feet just gat way too hot which is a problem.... Would prefer without...

    Sandal size

I'm trying to get my feet used to the same brand and type of sandal as well. I have been doing a few training walks with them withbpack weight. I now have one heel blister another two on the tops of my toes. I'm not sure that the soft bit at the back is soft enough to mound to your foot. I'm a...

Sandals with or without socks or trail runners?

Thanks for all your replies - I tried on the keens at the weekend after a session in the boots with pack weight so my feet would be in the same ish condition as when I would be walking with them and I liked them. Fitted good, more impact cushioning and no movement.... Just awaiting payday to get...

Sandals with or without socks or trail runners?

Thanks for all the replies. I need closed toe sandals (Just believe me!) The keen ones look quite good in the reviews. I'm going off to the shops at the weekend to try on a few.... I'm only starting my training for September so they will be well worn in before I go!. Ill have to sneak out of the...

Sandals with or without socks or trail runners?

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like sandles generally from the replies above. Keen Newport, Teva and Keen seem to be the main contenders from the above. I'll check each out. Yeah I think that the Camino is the only place where sandles and socks are even barley legal....

Sandals with or without socks or trail runners?

Ok I'm sorta done with boots, too hot and sweaty in the heat and too hard to dry when wet. Should I go the trail runners or the sandals and if the sandals with or without socks and what socks. Do I need liners like boots?

    Dare I post this?

about the sunglasses. I found the sun was always to the side or behind me and never in my eyes. Only wore them in the afternoon with a few post walking beers in a square with friendly pilgrims.....I wouldn't bring a pair I felt I had to mind!

    Are the shoes safe outside?

You then would have the added advantage of your clothes and pack all smelling like your feet. The perfect protection against theives!

    Are the shoes safe outside?

That mightent be a great idea, boots in a plastic bag wouldn't get any chance to dry or air. I could only imagine all sorts of nasties building up over the course of a month.

    Water reservoir/bladder?

I have used both and now stay with the simple bottles..... Whilst I would have lots of issues with hydration systems I seem to loose the bottles at an alarming rate.... Bit difficult to lose a hydration system.

    Gaiters

I thought of gaiters too but never tested or used them. Would it depend on what other rain gear you had?. Would it stop the rain that dribbels down your legs getting into your shoes? Would it depend on the length of your poncho? I can see a use when walking in the wild countryside through long...

    Trekking poles

Your poles might be conficated. Consider how much they cost. Do you want the inconvenience of replacing them when you arrive. Do you want to risk checking them with or without your bag in and it getting lost. My own preference is to dismantle them put than along the back of the unchecked pack...

    Bottle vs hydropack

I've done both bladder and bottle. What I like about a bottle, whilst walking on my own is that I stop to drink, and. "drink" in the surroundings, view, sounds, gentle breeze etc..... I was missing so much just walking walking walking

    Leaky boot

I know a couple who used their worn out boots as flower pots in their garden!
