Can I have my backpack transported to municipal albergues?
I have used the Correos system and found it excellent and flexible about dropping off. From my experience this includes all albergues = private and public. Efficient and reasonable at 5 euros a time.- vanrobin

If you are going into Madrid, it is cheaper than the airport. There is a Vodaphone store at the Puerto del Sol right in the centre. Good package for 30 euros.- vanrobin

Leaving boots at home...
A good decision! Last year on the Norte I used trail runners/walkers (New Balance - Leadville V3). With orthotics in the shoes, I wore wool socks and rubbed my feet liberally with vaseline before heading out to do around 25 km per day. No blisters and comfortable walking - even if I head tired...- vanrobin

Is a laptop a good idea?
An old laptop might be heavier than you really want. I have a MacBook Air which is very light. There are certainly benefits as you intimate and it was worth it for me, but I would not have carried the extra weight of an older laptop. Cell phones and Sim Cards
I guess that a lot of people take their cell phone not only to use for communication but as a camera. The quality of photos is certainly great, saving weight and space.
