I carried a solo tent in 2008 and used it twice. Afterwards I never carried the weight again. I still carry a sleeping pad that only weigh's12 oz.'s which is just a thing I can't seem to drop.
I am planning the VdlP and will carry a light weight emergency bivy.

I would keep it unless you have other options. I froze in Leon and Pamplona in July of 2011 and was very glad I had my fleece.

Ditto on this approach, I do the leaf bag thing when I return home. Everything goes into a leaf bag (large thick trash bag) sealed then into my vehicle, windows up in the blazing sun for four to five days to ensure total elimination of any critters!

I worked in printing plants for 40 years and they saved my hearing. I carry these on every Camino! You can wear a pair three or four times and they are very comfortable!
Can say about shops, but I did find using the rubber tips to be helpful in keeping your poles from sticking in the cracks of the cobble stones along the way.
I have worn these on many a Camino and many times all day. I work in the printing industry and I can tell you these are the most comfortable and best I have ever used.
Something else to consider is that Goretex will block those cold north winds and if it has pit zips you can adjust your ventilation. Also while exploring towns and villages I have always preferred a jacket.

Nine or ten inch compression shorts by any of the current sports appeal company's. Wear them on my second Camino Frances and have been wearing them for my day to day ever since. Best thing ever, no chafing or creeping!

John Ho, since you are near the Atlantic coast from time to time along the route, you may want to consider long pants for the times when the wind or storms blow in. The Atlantic is cold along the coast as you travel north.
