"Preparation H" is my magic cream for my feet, nipples, groin folds and the space between the butt cheeks.
A must, coming from my experience as ultratrail runner.
Like Gigipro, I grew in an area (farmland in North West Italy) where we used to wear shoes only in cold seasons and when we had to go to school or to church. And I kept on walking barefoot at home all my life.
So, for me, walking with the modality of soft landing the anterior plantar arch first...
I would like to share with this group of Pilgrims a beautiful modality of walking, a sort of walking meditation, or walking yoga, to use in Caminos.
A way to bring awareness in your every single step and, at the same time, to prevent a lot of injuries.
The basic rule is very simple: instead of...
:D:D:D
Have you ever read Born to Run by Christopher McDougall or The History of the Human Body by Daniel Lieberman?
There you will find an answer to your statement. ;)
The runner's nipple is a quite common annoyance among the trail and ultra-trail runners.
To simply and effectively prevent it we apply a cross of paper band-aid on the nipples.
That product is easy (and painless) to remove and it allows 100% the transpiration of the skin.
No need to put vaseline!
So, I'm sure you know that the best "pre-prevention" strategy is to wear the right shoes for you. ;)
And, beside the pre-taping, there are other effective tricks. These are the ones that I regularly adopt:
1) wear "techie" socks, especially designed for long distance hikes and ultra-marathons...
Two traditional Italian natural remedies for inflammation to joint, muscle and fascia - also well known in Spain - are very effective:
1) poultice of clay
2) leaves of cabbage.
Of course, "Rome wasn't built in one day", but these two cheap and with no side effects things were resolutive for me...
In my rucksack, along with my cream of arnica for traumas and local inflammations, I always carry an old traditional Italian "magic" oil to soothe tired and/or aching muscles:
9,5 ml of grape seed oil (almond and olive oil are good as well!)
6 drops of ginger essential oil
6 drops of rosemary...
Thank you, Doc.
