Have you had Covid in the past? I swear my body and mind have changed since I had it, and I get tired quicker and easier than before having it. Age can also play a factor, even if it's just an additional five years. When I walked Camino Frances to celebrate my 50th birthday in 2015, I was...
Thanks for the post, Dave. I've read that bed bugs are attracted to the type of carbon dioxide we emit when breathing, but as far as I know, there is only one kind so not sure if there is any truth to this? I think lots of people get bitten but not all are allergic or sensitive to their 'juice'...
Thank goodness for your negative results! It’s funny how we forget the common cold and flu are still out there. Sending you healing vibes and best wishes for a quick recovery!
Buen Camino!
I’m so sorry to hear you are sick. You may want to do another antigen test because the timing for those can be very precise. I’ve also read that the new Covid variants may not be detected with the current antigen tests so the best you can do is practice social distancing, etc. It’s possible you...
I'm not sure f you're talking about the topical rub or the tablets, but in my experience, they sell something better than Voltaren. It's ibuprofen based where Voltaren is not, and it was magical on my feet after a long day of walking. Much more effective than Voltaren for me, anyway.
Buen Camino!
I didn't lose any toenails, but the big toe on my right foot went numb around day 12 of my camino. Although it was numb, I would press it and it would go white and then pink again very quickly, so I knew my circulation was fine. As it so happened, I had scheduled a physical with my doctor upon...
Sorry if this is a repeat of something someone already said, as I haven't had time to read this entire thread. There's still a week before you go, so have you thought about getting in a couple of physiotherapist sessions before you take off?? They are only a half hour, so even if you could get...
I completely agree that living a drug-free life is best, which is what I try to do at home, however, I used the gel a few times which really helped. I also took one 600gm of the stuff, after walking for the day which also was really effective.
One thing I really enjoyed using, that I purchased in Spain, was ibuprofen cream that I would lather on my feet after taking my shower. We can't get this in Canada, so it was a real treat!! And speaking of treats, they sell ibuprofen in 600mg units over there, instead of the 200mg/400mg sizes...
Soooo, are we talking knee-highs or full-blown toe to hip stockings?? :) I used merino wool socks with the liner built right in, along with either Glide, Vasaline or Aquaphor, but I still got a couple of toe blisters, about three days in. After that....nothing. I think the trick to avoiding...
I really can't add anything to what's already been said. I did a lot of what everyone else did, (i.e. take socks and boots off to air them out every two hours during the day, etc.) but one thing I would add is to make sure you don't shower in the mornings, because that makes your feet 'soft'...
I read somewhere on here that the best way to go downhill and save your knees is to make your way down in a zig-zag way. I don't know if this works but I will be sure to try it on our Camino this September.
