Hi Tazz , was the Salvador as well marked as the Primitivo, ? I walked the Primitivo in the spring and then onto Muxia and Fisterre, five days rain , and hailstones !
Thanks Bill
I walked the primitive between the 11th April, and got to Santiago on the 22nd April, didn't book any nights on the primitive, some days in the beginning didn't see another pilgrim on the way, only at night, at Castro shared the Albergue with one other pilgrim, we had a dorm each. And then onto...
How are the two of you getting on ? What's your weather been like ?
Will be a week behind you, last question if you've stayed in refugios did you have sleeping bags ?
Bill
It will be interesting to walk then, you will have to keep us posted of your progress when the time comes,
I have walked the GR221 on Majorca in December and March, would be looking at one of the caminos starting in the South of Spain at the time of year you're heading out,
Bill
OK, will look out for your pack, mine is a bit smaller than yours, though heavier than I'd like it to be, the lana is another camino to look into, might be good for the cooler months, at least the first part, you will be better prepared than me, I am working tomorrow, still then it's only two...
I've repacked! and should be ok carrying a light one season sleeping bag, and a silk liner, probably a light down jacket , and maybe a light gilet, and probably wearing my salomon boots.
Buen camino,
Bill
Hi Scott, starting in Oviedo on the 11th/12th April, be around Santiago when you're starting, I'll be walking alone, I did the Frances last year alone, you'll be fine, you're only alone if you want to be,
Bill
Old trainers, and worn in socks, new socks will give you blisters, I like my bridgedale socks, come in different weights , depending on the season, like other posters I used to wear two pairs of socks, most walking / outdoor stores will tell you one pair , and you'll be fine, if you need new...
I'm sure you'll enjoy it, I haven't walked this Camino, I will be a few days ahead of you, starting on the 10th April, and finishing on the 1st May, how high , or and how much climbing did you have to do on your volcano walks? I could just google it !
Not too late to start some walking, few good...
Thanks Joe, I will try weighing my pack with or without sleeping bag and waterproof trousers, and make my decision or dither further, checking forecasts before I fly !
Bill
Hi , 60 Morris, we will maybe meet, depending on how far we walk each day, I had hoped to walk with only a silk liner, but I don't like the cold, either ( even though I am from a cold country! , I have some African blood!),I had read some where here that not all the albergues have blankets, and...
Starting from Oviedo ,on the 11/12th April, countdown is on, flights booked , do I need waterproof trousers, ?
Then walking onto Finisterre or / and Muxia, so will definitely meet some of you from Melide.
Bill
Hi Javs , I will be a couple of days in front of you, fly into Santander on the Wednesday 10th April, then bus to Oviedo, so probably start walking on the 11th or 12th April.
Couple of questions for you or anyone else, I only needed a silk liner on the Frances last August, but think I may need...
