Camino Primitivo or continue on the Norte?

We loved the Norte/Primitivo combo. Norte was great training for Primitivo- shame to waste strong legs.

    Newby questions

Hi, lots of good advice here. My two cents on training is try to do some consecutive days as the challenge of Camino presents itself cumulatively rather than in the effforts of a single day. Do you use hiking poles? We found them helpful overall and invaluable on descents. If you have the...

    Two questions about Primitivo?

We walked in May 2016 and it was beautiful. We had clear sunny day for Hospitales and despite knowing better did not carry enough water. Made the beer very nice at end of day. https://caminonorte2016.wordpress.com/author/isenegger/

    Spanish SIM card for Primitivo???

My Spanish orange sim was great - even worked in Paris but coverage was not as good as those who had Movistar. I was sometimes no signal and they were fully connected.

    Camino Primitivo in May

We walked the Norte/Primitivo starting this year at end of April arriving Santiago on 28 May. It was our first Camino and we liked the Primitivo stretch very much. Asturias is lovely and empty and we enjoyed the countryside. Pilgrims along this route are more obvious than the Norte. The...

Crushed rock fills the Camino Primitivo in Galicia

We walked Norte/Primitivo in May this year and appreciated efforts to improve drainage and apply packed pea gravel surfaces. Very nice break from ample asphalt and mud. If walking in the dry months this is probably not an issue but better paths would make Primitivo pleasant in April and...

How necessary is a full-fledged guidebook?

We walked last month on Notte and Primitivo. Had kindle copy of Ciccerone guide as well as the Buen Camino app on my iPhone. App was great with bar and accommodation listings enroute. I also like the offline maps that gave me a great positional awareness in relation to the trail. Guide used in...

My Norte and Primitivo Blog from May 2016

Mostly used the Ciccerone guide. I ordered the German guide but did not receive before we left. I have got great value out of the Buen Camino App on my iPhone- helped with accommodation, bars, and route and elevation information.
