    Primitivo in September

Walked Primitivo end of September 2022! Left Oviedo in torrential rain which continued until Lugo! Definitely chilly in the mornings, especially if you’re walking early and it’s foggy! I normally wore a beanie/gloves/fleece, until the sun came up! Evenings could be cold as well, a light down or...

How much water is ‘plenty’ on the Hospitales?

Walked it last September! Only took a 500ml bottle, left samblismo in torrential rain, didn’t let up the whole day!

How social is the Camino Primitivo?

Also walked in September 2022, totally agree, perfect balance! You could see the season beginning to change as you walked! Loved it! Not really any major cities to pass, out with Oviedo/Lugo! Definitely enough people around though, if you want to socialise!

    Hospitales Route

Great guy, also gives a free weather updates and takes time to explain both route options to anyone still undecided.

Which is longer , Camino Primitivo Hospitales or Pola route

I walked via the Hospitales route in September. I stayed a the Samblisimo albergue. If you stay there, you can join the Hopitales route from right outside the Albergue. The albergue had no wi-fi, so I walked back to a bar in Borres, past were the main Hospitales route begins. I highly recommend...

Is the Camino Primitivo more physically challenging than other routes?

😆 So close, but no gold star am afraid! The conditions on the Hospitales that day reminded me of certain movie!! Hence, the quote! Think 80’s🤔

Is the Camino Primitivo more physically challenging than other routes?

My view of the Hospitalas route, end of September 2022! Torrential rain/dense fog, howling winds! Was in a bar in Borres the night before, the locals told me to, "Stay on the road and keep off the moors" 😬🐺

Is the Camino Primitivo more physically challenging than other routes?

I walked the Primitivo in October, it was my second Camino having previously completed the Portuguese Central route! I would say the Primitivo has some stages that some people may find more challenging! The inclines can feel tough, if you’re not used to them! I really enjoy it though, I...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Primitivo, Day by day

Amazing day in A Coruña, they were celebrating their patron saint! Public holiday, lots of different events taking place in the city! Didn’t realise until speaking to the helpful tourist information guide! Stayed later than planned and got to see the local religious parade as it went through...

Amazing night at municipal albergue in Borres

Glad it worked out for you both in the end! I had fun walking back to the albergue in Samblismo in the dark from that bar! The bar owner thought I was nuts!

LIVE from the Camino Camino Primitivo, Day by day

Quick update, arrived in Santiago this afternoon, around 2pm! Got a few pictures taken, nice to see the scaffolding gone, then headed to the pilgrims office! Big crowd of people outside, bit chaotic, but showed my reference number and joined the queue inside! Waiting about 15 mins and had a...

    Municipal Albergue WiFi?

I think will agree to disagree on this, of the 3 I stayed at the hospitaleros simply referred me back to main registration site or were too busy dealing with other pilgrims requests! I think you may have got lucky!

    Municipal Albergue WiFi?

You have to delete the Camino registration part before using the password! I don’t think most of hospitaleros know any better, hence why they put up signs stating it doesn’t always work! I thought it may be an apple thing, them being overly cautious! They Flag up the certificate, so you have to...

    Municipal Albergue WiFi?

Yeah, looks like it’s Spanish networks only! Some albergues have signs saying it may not work on all phones, but doesn’t mention anything about only Spanish accounts! Payed a bit extra for a albergue with Wi-Fi!

    Audi dealership or Albergue?

Am almost tempted to take a bus back just to try it out now! I think you’re right about the location, it just kinds of pops out at you! The albergue I had planned to stay at today, was full! First time since I started! Booked Seminario Menor for Wednesday!

LIVE from the Camino Camino Primitivo, Day by day

It’s fine, got it sorted! The application wasn’t fully loading, so was a bit frustrating trying to complete it! Got 4 days spare now! Have to decide if am heading to the Muxia/Finisterra on Thursday or just be a tourist and take some day trips! Flights not till Monday! Walked to the coast last...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Primitivo, Day by day

Should arrive in Santiago tomorrow afternoon! I was filling in the pre registration form, and noticed if you tick the box for the distance certificate, it changes the box below to todays date? I take it it’s the start date you began walking you’re meant to select! Or do I just leave the box...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Primitivo, Day by day

You have read my mind! I saw one other pilgrim as I left A Seixas this morning, other than that I had the whole trail to myself! I didn’t notice so many people as I came into Melide, but as I left, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Totally different feel, large groups, some playing music from...
