Pau is the closest major town. Airports are Pau, Tarbes and Biarritz. Olorons-Ste-Marie is kick-off town but..... fix accommodation. Sarrance is 1st stop, and has options. 2nd night can be tricky.
I struggled also. It depends on your route. If you follow the classical way via Toulouse, Auch then to Pau, then I am sorry that I cannot help. Others may respond hopefully.
I started north of St. Gaudens where I live, and have walked to Oloron-st-Marie. Up to Bagneres-de-Bigorre was very confusing but from there on the local people know pilgrims and are a very helpful. I depart from Oloron on 25 May, and go via Jaca.
