Accommodation Options Along the Voie d'Arles Between Giscaro and Auch

Yes. Their story is beautiful as yours must be. They have made their Gite into a truly wonderful Chemin experience.

Accommodation Options Along the Voie d'Arles Between Giscaro and Auch

Gite Le Grange is fantastic. We enjoyed one of the best times in this beautiful Gite. We stopped at L’Isle-Arne between Giscaro and Auch.

Via Tolosana Food and Drinks on the way?

We stayed in Anoye in 2018. The small store in the Gite sold food that you can make a decent meal with. The night we stayed there the Gite was just about full.

    Where to start in France?!

You could walk the RLS route from Le Puy to Ales or the Chemin de Saint Gilles from Le Puy to St Gilles. Then continue on the Arles route.

Route suggestion for 1 week on Arles (or Pièmont)

The part from Auch to Pau is lovely. Or depending on your ankle, from Pau to Somport. Use the Gronze site. I also had a French app that I didn’t use much. You may be able to pick up a guidebook along the way. The German guidebook looked great. I took some photos of relevant pages at one of the...

    Accommodation between Lescar and Oloron

We stayed at Lacommande last year. There are 5 beds in the dormitory plus stretchers that can be put up in the kitchen. The kitchen has an oven as well as microwave. You can buy cheeses and snacks at the winery across the road. They also will do a wine tasting for you. There were 7 of us staying...

    Route from Oloron-Ste Marie

This was part of the route we walked last year. It is very reasonable. Stay in the communal gites and albergues. We stayed at: Oloron- Relais du Bastet- a wonderful gite Sarrance- presbytere 25€ Demi pension Etsaut - Gite la Garbure 20€ for bed and breakfast Somport - Albergue Aysa 21€ for bed...

Have You Walked GR653 from Borce to The Col du Somport?

On the way up Somport there are streams to cross. If it has been raining these could be quite difficult to walk through.

    New albergue in Lescar?

In Lescar we stayed at Refuge du Pelerins. We had to ring when we arrived to get the code to get in. A lovely Gite.

    Arles vs. Le Puy

Have walked both the Arles and Le Puy(twice) routes. The Le Puy route is my favourite. The Arles route, at the beginning, is through some big cities. I enjoyed it more after Toulouse.

What you need to know before you leave to hike the Chemin d'Arles.

What you need to know before you leave to hike the Chemin d'Arles.

I would say that the Frances was probably like the Arles route in the past. It is only with more people walking it that more accommodation, bars etc will happen. I have just finished the Arles route. We had no trouble with accommodation or meals as we mostly booked Demi pension or carried a...

    Arles Route Difficulty

We enjoyed all the communal gites we stayed in. Some were full or near enough to full. The one at Jaca was very big. Great beds in fairly private areas. Just have no hooks etc for the showers. The communal French gites were great.

How busy is the Arles route at the moment?

Well, to answer my own question. It is relatively busy. Last night there were 9 of us in the Presbytere in Auch. Most days there have been 5 to 6 of us in gites along the way. Because of distance, and in some cases, only a small amount of beds, it is definitely necessary to book ahead.

Accommodation in St Guilhem Le Desert

Hi Heather. Bob became ill on the Chemin du Stevenson and heads home in 2days. I have a chest infection. Accidentally, left some medication along the Stevenson. So, no antibiotic or prednisone( as emergency backup for asthma). Have been to pharmacist and on 2 lots of medication plus have my...

Accommodation in St Guilhem Le Desert

Better to stay in Gite La Tour or with the Carmelites? Had contacted the Carmelites earlier and the reply was they were only taking previous bookings. So contacted La Tour. Had a reply from them, then another from the Carmelites saying yes it was ok. So, any recommendations for which is good?

Accommodation in Arles for 2 nights

The location is excellent. Right on the route. You can use your credential to get in free at the cloisters and the Alyscamps. They also have a nice stamp. Yesterday the lady was at the church between 5.30 and 6.30 to sell credentials and stamp them.

Accommodation in Arles for 2 nights

We booked the Maison du Voyageur et du Pelerin. However, in some respects we would have been better elsewhere. The steps are quite steep and are dangerous in top levels without a handrail. We are on the third floor and the bathroom is on the second floor. Downstairs smells very mouldy. Still the...
