Which route to take after Figeac?

Yes i have plans to go to Rocamadour next time i’m in Figeac. I also booked 1 (or 2) days ahead on the Podiensis. But it does seem busier in the last couple of years. I’m sure it can still be done though. Depends on the time of year, and if you are walking solo. On the Célé route i would book...

Which route to take after Figeac?

A very good quicker route i’ve done before is Figeac Espagnac Marcilhac Cabrerets St Cirq Pasturat (or Bears/Vers if you want to get a bit further ahead) Cahors. I book ahead on the Célé, there isn’t a great deal of accommodation, and i have missed out on places even booking early.

Which route to take after Figeac?

Probably my favourite way of walking the Célé route is this. It does take more days, but is more relaxed. However you walk it, it is a great route. Figeac to Beduer. Beduer to Brengues. Brengues to Marcilhac ( accommodation Le Picarel, past Marcilhac ) Marcilhac to Cabrerets (Hotel des...

Which route to take after Figeac?

    I’m interviewed on episode 71. It’s the only episode i haven’t listened to. 😀😀😀

Which route to take after Figeac?

Do you mind staying in some slightly more expensive accommodation or only budget?

Which route to take after Figeac?

The célé route typically takes a day longer than the gr65, but is much more scenic. Also more up and down, but worth it. I’ve walked it 3 times. I’ll post some thoughts on it later when i have time.

Advice on walking Le Puy to Cahors in April

Demi-Pensión is a must really. Don’t worry too much about recommendations, wherever you stay is very likely to be good. The communal meals are great. Bunk beds are a rarity. If you want to try somewhere special, this place is great. New last year, Owned by a Michelin starred chef and his...

Cele variant route question Saint Cirq Lapopie to Cahors 33.2 km

If you mean reconnecting with the GR65 from St Cirq, then it is obviously a long day and not quite enough to split. It is ok as a walk but not special. I’ve walked the Célé route a few times and if you was thinking of splitting the day i’d recommend going down to the river, walking to Bouzies...

Via Podiensis Cicerone Guidebook Routes Confusion

If you get a morning ticket for Peche Merle (around 10 or 11) you will have plenty of time for a leisurely walk to Bouzies. Even St. Cirq. There isn’t much to explore in Cabrerets, but it is a nice spot to chill out. If you like to swim and your accommodation doesn’t have a pool, there is a...

How to Make Arrangements for Visiting Pech Merle and Rocamadour

From Figeac, Rocamadour can be reached by train (it’s about an hour walk from the train station i think) or bus. I’ve not been but i know people have recommended staying the night at Rocamadour and returning next day. But the choice is yours.

How to Make Arrangements for Visiting Pech Merle and Rocamadour

Peche Merle is about a 30 minute walk from Cabrerets. It’s uphill and is pretty tiring especially if it’s hot. If you leave in plenty of time you can have refreshments there. Hotel de Grottes in Cabrerets is pretty good. It has a pool and an outdoor terrace (open to public, evening restaurant...

Via Podiensis April 2023 Itinerary Advice

Your stages look good to me. I’ve walked longer stages from Le Puy, but next time (probably later this year) i expect i’ll walk the same as you or very similar. Sauvage is very popular so be prepared to book elsewhere. Ferme du Barry also, but there other good options in town. There are also...

    Recommendations for rest days

Hi, There aren’t really any towns that i think warrant another day spent there. Although there are lots of lovely towns and villages. Many can be explored in an afternoon or less. Cahors possibly as it has secret gardens and is close to halfway. If you don’t mind a rest day actually resting...

    Luggage lockers in SJPDP?

Thanks. I live on the Kent coast UK. So i'm only a few hours from Paris by Eurostar. It should be possible to walk this route in 1 week off work.

    Luggage lockers in SJPDP?

Great thanks. I just found a link to a free camino app there. The app gives a free camino Baztan app. Brilliant.

    Luggage lockers in SJPDP?

Hi, i should really stop looking at different camino's. I want to do them all. Now you've interested me in the Camino de Baztan. From the little maps on gronze i can see it follows a couple of rivers. Do you know if the way is well marked when not following the rivers?

    Le Puy guidebooks

Sounds great. It was 18 months ago at Larressingle so it hadn't changed much. One man i met walked for another week, then went back to help with the grape harvest. I'll definitely give it a try next time i'm that way. 2020 hopefully.

iMiam App for Le Puy to SJPdP

The people who publish Miam Miam Dodo have said that a new updated iMiam App will be ready to download around the end of March. I used the last one a lot, for all kinds of information. I think it's great. I believe it will be available on Apple and Android.

    Le Puy guidebooks

You normally find somewhere to stop while walking, but not a lot. You do find places that have somewhere to eat out, normally bigger towns. I would normally have a drink in a cafe/bar while looking at my guidebook for the next day, before going back to the gîte for the communal meal. Not all...
