Radio Buen Camino on El Salvador in 7 parts

Wow, I am behind… Just watched Campomanes - Mieres… Now, either I have a real big amnesia OR this part of camino has changed a lot since 2010… I really cannot remember any motorway neither to my left nor to my right… It was all (in my head at least) a rather dull but peaceful walk. I also loved...

Radio Buen Camino on El Salvador in 7 parts

My God… so much beauty. (And all the answers to our questions…) When watching your video, I'd say I have more than once missed the "right" camino, Gunnar… (which may explain my amnesia…) And to say that I stayed alone in that joyful albergue of Pajares. (A shame!)

Radio Buen Camino on El Salvador in 7 parts

Great video, Gunnar. Beside, I am very grateful for the information about people, politics, background you give. Yes, again souvenirs of the camino - but I do not remember f.i. that there was so much street walking from La Robla to Buiza… At least I do remember and recognize these stunning views...

Nice, nice, nice... So many souvenirs... Thank you Gunnar for sharing!

HELP -- from Buiza till Arbas del Puerto

... and I remember very well the water hut and that I took the small path to the left. (jihaaah, at least some way found on the Salvador).

HELP -- from Buiza till Arbas del Puerto

Where we arrived at the little stream, it was quite narrow and it was no problem to pass it. July, hot summer, few water... As to the way "avoiding" Arbas, yes once the massive vegetations downhill left behind us, Maria followed this path straight to the National road. I just left it some time...

Explosion in a mine near Pola de Gordon

A tragedy! And every year the same procedure: somewhere in the world some accident in a mine, many deaths and sorrow... Then the brave miners descend again and risk their lives. Why? Why can't their situation be improved? (I mean, we live in the 21st century with plenty of progress, - how come...

HELP -- from Buiza till Arbas del Puerto

Here I am again - me and my lost memory... ;) Well, where to start and with what? - the mine: yes, I do remember it VERY well. What an ugly place inmidst all this beauty. Good to hear, it has been 'arranged' - reaching Poladura following the wooden markers. This worked well till just the last...

Map "Puerto de Pajares" - download here

Well, the "Otto disapeared-pictures" brought back loads of memories of the desperate wish to join Arbas..... Gunnar, I think we tried hard to find 'the right way', so in that case it was simply a problem of not seing the (few existing) waymarks and not of 'too many alternatives'...

Map "Puerto de Pajares" - download here

and the winner is.... GunnarW, what a great map! Thank you. PS next topic for me might be "Poladura de la Tercia - Arbas" --- as it was very tricky without the new yellow arrows. and I have never seen Arbas, by the way... The Asturian Maria and I myself had some difficult times up there...

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

At least, I can say: this part is missing in mine too... Thank you Gunnar for all your efforts. It must be indeed this one. (from 2010 till 2013 vegetation has grown, as the cows have moved from the right to the left side of the N630. The world doesn't stand still...)

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

I completely agree with the pink way on the map of monday 6:29 being the original way we walked; but it doesn't continue till Pajares - and the last map and picture gave me some new hope about the end of the original path - because I am still very convinced that I did not go back to the N630...

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

Gunnar, your last map has attracted all my interest... I would like to study what is (not visible) at the left. Because did I walk as it was marked (so at the no thanks point, taking the left path?) Or might there be another path coming from the Puerta direction and reaching Pajares at the...

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

Impossible Gunnar! My memories are far too vague (but, well I never really tried to be hypnotized - might it really work, pushing away dark clouds of different memories hiding the precious 'Puerta de Pajares' ones?) Well, enough joking. At least I am really seriously considering walking the...

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

Ha! Conclusions till now: - we are still lost in the bull besieged no man's land around Puerta de Pajares - we keep a little Mystery for ourselves - we possibly have a new member in the group - the fun can go on! Sounds good!

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

What a shock, indeed... So, it's quite clear : we must come to find out by ourselves (which is rather a good news)

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

haha - makes me reconsider using my (never used) electric coil just for the pleasure of joining in... By the way, just realised that Rebekah is back to the forum - she might help us further. Else we should all of us consider walking in spring with you, Laurie, to find out in "real time".

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

If I thus walked the original path (the one Laurie walked thus also, without yellow arrows, without wood but with ferns), it definiteley did not descent till San Miguel, Susanna. Except a very steep part, it stayed rather flat (in my memories). and I don't remember of any hard ascent to Pajares...

From the Puerto de Pajares to the Pueblo de Pajares on the Salvador --- PART2

I am sorry, I try to remember but all this remains too vague... I cannot remember having seen the N630 nor having crossed any woods (it was in july 2010, woods and shadow should still be in my head if there had been any). I remember high vegetation (farns?), small paths as well as something...
