Growth in pilgrim numbers on the Invierno

I walked the Invierno in 2018, my last camino before severe illness in my household and the covidpandemi. I would like to walk again, preferably my years of planned Camino de Madrid continuing on the Invierno. But I guess so many years have gone and I feel too old to walk alone. On the Invierno...

LIVE from the Camino Reflections on the Invierno

@Peregrina 2000 Can you tell me where to buy an electric coil, have not found it anywhere in Norway, searched since I saw you talked about it years ago.

LIVE from the Camino Live from Camino Invierno

Hektor, I walked in May 2018 and totally met 5 peregrinos, once, until A Laxe, so this camino is not crowdy in summer either. But locals are friendly. Buen camino! Randi

LIVE from the Camino Limping on the Invierno!

I used correos on workingdays, they did that Monday to Friday. Had to mail them.

LIVE from the Camino Limping on the Invierno!

I guess I walked a couple of weeks earlier on my Invierno in 2018 and it was not as hot as these days and no flies. I always bring a headnet to put over my cap since I am from a mosquitoarea at home, but I was not bothered at all on the Invierno. Hope it gets better on the way.

    Walking Surfaces on the Invierno

To point seven Diomondi to Belesar: May be I was lucky about the weather but I did not find this section difficulty at all. A nice climb down to the river, worse up the hill on the other side of the river, chose the road up the hill.

Albergue supply outstrips pilgrim demand on Invierno!

I took that train 07.33 but I do not remember a stop in Pobra, but that was in 2018. Might perhaps depend on the type of train, long distance or local.

Albergue supply outstrips pilgrim demand on Invierno!

When I walked the Invierno in 2018, there was a possibility to take a bus from Pobra de Brollon to Monforte at 4pm. My plan was to take the bus, stay the night in Monforte and go back next morning without my backpack to do the rest. Because of very thick fog, I dropped the stage and took the...

My Stages on the Camino de Invierno

Santo Estevo de Ribas de Minho, beautiful church. The Casa Rural with hosts Ean and Irene was a nice place to spend the night.

New backpack transport service on the Camino de Invierno

I used Correos in 2018, but they only worked Mon-Fri, not in the weekend.

Accommodation Availability on the Invierno (September & October 2021)

Hei Ingeborg! Guess you are Swedish or Suomilainen. Looking forward to your first hand experience about the Invierno. Walked the route in 2018 and hope to be back next year if covid permits. Buen camino!

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

Bandeira to Santa Cruz de Ribadulla. I stayed in Pension Recidencial Viktoria a few km after Ponte Ulla. It is at the N-525, but I walked the camino and took a small road down to the hotel. Seemed new and modern in 2018 and the restaurant had good food.

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

I stayed in Hostal Conde Rey. Good menu del dia in the bar. Room cheap, but cold. I think this was the place where you had to turn on heat in the shower to get hot water. There was some writing about it in the forum, may be @OzAnnie mentioned it, so I was aware of the problem. Next time if ever...

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

I took the ”real pilgrims” route 😉and walked along the road, since it was still foggy and I had read a lot about mud on the path. This roadroute was marked with yellow arrows, I think, and it was easygoing. I found a dead boar along the way. Walked through Lalin to Hotel Torre de Deza where I...

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

I can imagine your walk that day. On my walk I saw nothing at all, dumped into a couple of mills that I saw only when I was very close. Luckily it did not rain. I felt a bit uncomfortable up there alone, but since I had met 3 peregrinos at the bar in Penasillas I knew there were somone...

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

The wooden steps were on the way down, since I did not go up to the Capela In the fog, I thought perhaps it was another path up to the top, I think I still could hear the sound of the windmills up there. It was before I crossed the bridge over po-533. This was in 2018. When I look at the map...

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

Chantada to Rodeiro. Did not see much that day, so I might have to come back sometime in nice weather. Stayed in Carpinteiras. This was before they opened the albergue. Remember granny who made me a nice meal. The rest of the town seemed closed when I arrived probably during siesta on a Sunday.

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

Even more concerned after reading this. 😨Saw a dead boar on the way between Rodeiro and Lalin, guess it was hit by a car.

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

One forum member wrote that he had been attacked by dogs outside the fence of the Fabrica between Cornatel and Borrenes. The gate was open and the dogs were unchained. When I passed by, the dogs were inside and the gate was closed. So I guess he was the inlucky guy that day. I would not have...

Planning a “25 km or less” Camino on the Invierno

That’s right, you don’t see so much, I guess you see more on both roadalternatives.
